Ank06 - 3CC Conquest

BTW, looks like Abu's bombers' range wasn't enough to really bombard the surroundings of Entremont...

Well we gave it a good effort. I need to reduce the number of SGs at the moment. Maybe in the fall I'd be up for a rematch.

I will also be busy the rest of the summer... I'll check this in a month or two, and let's look then what happens. Ok?

If CFC only had some kind of marking system so you coyuld make your own notes into the calendar... duh.

Looks like there is a possibility to add something... wonder if it's only visible for me, or for all?

EDIT: Oops, I don't have permission to do that.

Way to fight the good fight, all.

Drop me a line come rematch time....;)

Glad I could help out on this one. :)

Helluva fight gang.

Hope you guys do better next time. We've done OCCC @ Monarchy (AG9) and now are struggling @ emperor (AG10). The last thing you want to see is a super strong AI. Oscilating wars to balance the AIs seems the best way to do.

microbe: yeah, that was our problem, Arabia got too strong to battle everyone at once and destroy them... after that the chances were quite small.

Let's hope we do better in the rematch. :)

FWIW, now that I've had a chance to think about it, we may have waited too long to go to war. Once out of the Middle Ages it was all over but the shouting, I think. Industrial Age techs just got too expensive for three cities to keep up. And when tech costs reach ~3000g and you can produce only 150 beakers per turn at the max, but don't have 150gpt extra....

That is true. Another problem was our civ, we chose a civ with a bad UU for this, a knight replacement would have been propably better, or cav replacement.

We could start discussing for the rematch. :)

I suggest we choose a civ with a knight/cav UU, that's a much better timing for a UU than a sword replacement, in a 3CC you won't get enough of GS's or whatever before it's really too late to use them effectively.

In that case the civ would be one of these (please note if I forget someone):

Knight-replacement:

Japan
China
India

Cav replacement:

Russia
Ottomans

Just to add fuel to the discussion: how about Babylon and start a major bowman rush. Crush 'em early and often. Stay in despotism, capture, rather than build towns, no culture, just barracks and lots and lots of military.

That could be an interesting try... Build only one city, start capturing the rest...

Does any other civ have an early UU with 2 attack & 20 shields cost in PTW?

I've played two 3CC games now, DI1 was AW and this game. At the end of DI1, Gengis and I were discussing doing it again. If it wasn't for the off shore islands, we would have won DI1 on time. In the end we won in 2078 AD or something, but it went down as a histograph loss.

After having read Doc's article on winning Deity with AW over on RBCiv, I think AW is the way to go.

Why AW?

Although I personally don't care too much on whether it's AW or only a conquest aim... AW would be something I've never tried IIRC though, so could be fun.

Actually I did try AW, just remembered, it was the pathetic SGOTM1 loss.

That was the only time so far I've got an award from anything at CFC...

AW is a completely different mind set. I think with a late chivalry/Mill tradition based UU, a 3CC AW game is winnable in 540 turns. I'd go for either China or the Ottomans.
