Ank13 - Monty goes into Space

Should I do a min research beeline to monarchy?

If we have Literature. Literature is very important not only for the GL, but the library will help a lot. I think we need to speed up the tech pace, so I support this only if we have Lit.

Ok, I don't think we have Lit though.

EDIT: we haven't even finished writing.

Literature is top priority. I think we should go the Writing route since Map Making is there too. We will want that, too, for contact.

what about a philo free tech, it might actually work.

The AI's research it THAT slow.

I don't play vanilla much, but philo doesn't give a free tech as far as I know. They made that addition in Conquests.

Hum, I'll have to check the civilopedia. Also, I am actually starting my turns.

Boy, I haven't seen this many resources in a long time. :D

Preflight - lower sci to 50 still writing in 2.

1830 BC - Finish writing, begin Lit at 70%. For some reason, lux was adjusted to 10%, so tenoch riots. Lux goes back up to 20%. Worker mines another grass.

1790 BC - Germans demand contact w/Babs, I give it to them.

1725 BC - Greece demands contact w/Babs, I say no, as they are really far away. War.

1675 BC - Attack a barb w/ JW, win promoting + lose 1 hp. Settler builds onto cap, don't even have to raise lux tax.

Thoughts - JW barb farming in N, barbs in SW too. We are still at war w/greece, but no threat there.

EDIT: Whoopsie. :D :p Thanks.

War with Greece? I hope they build a huge army, then make peace. Then, they'll stay at peace, and have a million obselete troops.

I'm overly optimistic. :(

And why are there two saves? :p :D

Oh, greece (I think) cannot attack us, as germany is a barrier.

The can just go through Germany. I actually like the fact that Greece is at war. I just hope that the peace deal isn't too expensive.

It probably won't bevery expensive, as there's been no fighting.

I thought that AI's tend not to go through other AI's territories, but I guess I'm wrong.

Ok... I'm up in 2 SG's now.. but I think I'll get this in too, as the turns in an OCC game tend to be light.

Got it.

1350BC [4]: Research Literature > start map making.

1150BC [12]: Hammi demands literature. I refuse. He declares. Hehe... hehehe... eh... oops.

Well, the GLib is due in only a few turns... so we should have time to build defences. I hope...

1075BC [15]: I hope this is turn 15.. I might have messed up with the turn numbers in the beginning.

Mainly these turns were waiting for the GLib to be built... I lost the northern jag on the first turn attacking a barb camp... gah.

I also killed some other barb bogies at Teno before they got to attack. We were on the edge, with only one defeder in Teno.

Next thing I'd build is a spear, then a library in Teno. The spear is a must, we need defence.

Try and get the jag in the Babylonian lands home safely... or make some distraction use of it... you could scout Grecia.

Remember that we are at war with the 2 score leaders of the game.

REMEMBER: 24h to post a "got it", total 48 to post turnlog and save.

And the save to next better player :hatsoff:

Got it. War with the Hammer and Alex? Cool. :D

EDIT: Where is Teno? :D :p

Sucks about the JW, it was veteran :(

But meh, GL is in a few. :)

It seems that Tomoyo is our thread watchdog. :D ;) :p

Good, keep the far away AIs at war, slow them down. Maybe we should declare on France, too? Seriously; I don't think they can reach us in any reasonable amount of time.

By the way, how's Germany doing recovering from the early loss of their capital? Better?

Pre-turn: Increase science to get MM is three turns for no apparent reason. I had a brain lapse, and forgot the GL was due next turn. I can blame it on not having the slider set on the turn before me though. :p

1050BC: Great Library (:D) – Spearman

1025BC: Two Greek archers show up.

1000BC: Spearman – Library

Ugh. Move the Jag near Babylon onto a mountain next to four warriors.

975BC: They don’t attack. No GA. :D

The Archers are coming closer. Change Library build to an archer. Use the spear to try to damage one of the archers by fortifying him in front of the city while waiting for the archer to complete.

IT: The spear kills one archer, dies against the other. Mathematics comes in from the GL.

950BC: Archer – Galley. Our new archer kills the injured Greek archer. No more Greeks. :D

Mathematics to Germany for World Map and 45 gold. (Market price)

925BC: A rest from the unusually exciting OCC turns.

900BC: Galley – Library. Our annoying Jag in Babylon sees unguarded workers and settlers! Two tiles away. :D

875BC: Two more Greek archers appear. Change build to an archer.

850BC: Archer – Harbour (A library would waste the chop) Both Greek archers are killed. We get two veterans. :D

IT: Lose the galley to a suicide run.

825BC: Pillage a silk tile in Babylon. Conveniently end up on a tile where the Babs can’t reach me anyway. :D

800BC: More pillaging. A barb camp pops up north. Send an archer to go kill it.

775BC: Harbour – Library. Kill a barb horse. Change my mind, and send a Jag to kill the camp instead. More pillaging in Babylon. The bowmen and warriors are still chasing me, but they are conveniently not using their own roads. :crazyeye:

750BC: Pillaging time’s up. Start running away.

IT: What the? Our Jag in Babylon gets attacked! But it retreats! [party]

730BC: Kill another barb horse. Our jag in Babylon is seriously in trouble.

710BC: Our jag looks to be relatively safe.

Notes to the next player:
Get the Bab Jag to safety, probably by going south-ish. Get it healed, and maybe back into business.
Greeks will give peace if we give them Lit, and they will give us their WM and all their gold.
Babylonians will give us peace for Lit.
Germany has Philosophy.
No one has Lit.
