Ank13 - Monty goes into Space

Nice trading, and good turns :) I think we should get our hands on any tech leading to republic first, then the other techs. It would give us alot more GPT when we switch to republic, and we definately won't be warmongers.

EDIT: 100th post! [party] The thing is, its so insignificant, as everyone has at least 8x the posts I do. :D But, its still an accomplishment to me, as I joined on Nov 28. (And that just means I could've been posting a whole lot of spam. )

Who are you talking to?

BTW, I got to 100 in about a week. :p

And my ppd is much higher. :(

Anyways, I agree with B-lining for Republic. Germany has Philosophy, so we should go for CoL.

670 BC [2] - Monti finishes its Library. I start the Great Lighthouse. Turn on Science; CoL due in 10 at +0 gpt. Disperse a barb camp in the tundra.

650 BC [3] - Palace expansion. A German Settler appears on our borders.

630 BC [4] - We get Philosophy and Code of Laws from Greece and Germany via the GL. Republic in 28 at +0 gpt.

610 BC [5] - The German Settler near Monti is just sitting there... Odd AI behavior.

570 BC [7] - The Germans have founded Nuremberg on our doorstep.

550 BC [8] - Kill a barb in the Tundra. Greece has Literature.

510 BC [10] - Kill another barb in the Tundra.

490 BC [11] - Monti reaches size 12.

450 BC [13] - We get Construction from the GL. Disperse another barb camp in the Tundra.

410 BC [15] - The Great Lighthouse is due in 8, The Republic in 20. The Greeks want Construction for Peace, but will give all of their gold and their WM. Babylon demands Literature and 120 gold for Peace. Our Jag may be trapped in Babylonian lands; we should disband it instead of risking a Despotic GA.

Looking good. After the Great Lighthouse, should we concetrate on Galleys and (wait, do we have Currency? :hmm:).

Looking good.

So, we're aiming to get contact with the rest of the world ASAP... and then keep up in techs.

I wasn't talking to anyone in perticular, and I just noticed that your ppd is higher, Tomoyo. So its really only an accomplishment to me. ;)

Anyway, nice turns. agree with disbanding the JW in bab territory. Also agree with galleys after the GLight.

What's our military like?

Tomoyo said:
...wait, do we have Currency?
Tomoyo, I think Cuiv probably would've told us if we got Currency.

SAVE

390 BC (1) - Our Jag is cornered. We will almost certainly lose him next IT, but there is also the chance we'll trigger a GA. I now check the last turn log again and see Cuivienen recommended disbanding it, so I guess I will.

310 BC (5) - Borders expanded to get wine, and we dispersed a barb camp.

290 BC (6) - Greeks have learned Currency.

250 BC (8) - Great Lighthouse built, start a galley. Greek archers just outside our borders.

210 BC (10) - Galley builds, start barracks.

170 BC (12) - Greeks finally make it to Monti. Our first archer loses, redlining, our second wins. We also learn Currency, but hold off on Marketplace until an archer or two is built.

150 BC (13) - Galley spots a Greek galley, presumably headed north.

130 BC (14) - Newly built archer kills a new Greek one. The redlined one is in a bordering tile.

IT - Redlined archer attacks, promotes our archer.

110 BC (15) - The Greek galley is now in our borders. We also have some barb troubles to the north, and I will leave the decision of what to do up to the next player. I don't particularly want to withdraw the worker, as there is only one turn remaining. Building a few more archers seems like a good idea to me, then building a marketplace.

Good job. And Good choice on building military instead of the market first. This isn't in that way as tedious as a basic 20k OCC: we don't need to get so many of the MA wonders... next ones we really need or want are cop's and newton's... and shakes if we can.

How many and what troops have we got in Monti? if we have good enough forces we could risk and go defend the worker... or we could withdraw. I have always hated situations like this... and I always seem to have a horrible RNG if I go defend the worker.

I trhink the roster looks like this:

Tomoyo
Cuivienen
bed_head7
Formula51 - UP!
Ankka - on deck

REMEMBER: 24h to post a "got it", total 48 to post turnlog and save.

We seem to have two troops in Monti, and I'll guess that it's an archer and a jag.

I think its two JW's, but I could be wrong.

We should move the JW over the worker so it can finish the job.

But, why are we cutting the forest? We need the shields, unless a BG is under the forest.

EDIT: Oh yeah, almost forgot, I got it.

Ah, ok. :) Didn't notice that.

Preflight - Move JW to protect worker.

IBT - Oh crap. Greece drops a sword right next to our cap. Mont Archer>Archer. JW wins against barb warrior and horse, promotes to elite.

90 BC - Kill off greek sword, losing 2 archers. Ouch. MM Mont for more shields. Road remaining forest tile.

50 BC - Another greek galley. get republic. don't revolt. Poly in 11 @ 70%. Mont archer>archer.

30 BC - see stack of 3 greek archers, decide it's a good time for peace. Get poly for 600g and peace. Start on Engineering, as greece has Mono.

10 BC - MM for shields, market in 5.

70 AD - Worker builds a road to incense for future, suggest a worker pop for wines.

90 AD - we get Mono for free from GL.

110 AD - 2 barb horsies appear after market completes, start Archer, revolt to republic. 1 Turn anarchy!

130 AD - the city went into disorder after I revolted? Ratio unhappy:happy is 4:8. I don't get it. Large stack of babs appear outside of borders. Only a few bows, mostly warriors, don't want to risk a GA for babs. I think I won't sign peace.

150 AD - NVM!! another stack of 6 bows is outside our borders. Sign peace for Republic (no lower price, which really sucks) get a small amount of gp plus his WM.

170 AD - Archer>worker.

EDIT: crap, forgot about the wines. build the worker, road the wines, and rejoin the worker.

170AD [Preturn]. Ok... I guess the fastest way to get the wines connected is by uilding the worker... and we'll still get 15spt to get galleys in 2 when it's built.

IBT: Some - way too many - Babylonian units run towards Monti. We don't have war, but I'm afraid.

Monti worker > spear. why don't we have any defence?

190AD [1]: Move some troops back homewards... those Babs are frightening.

IBT: They seem to be just going for the barbs in the North..

We lose an archer to 2 barbs horses.

Monti grows back to size 12.

210AD [2]: 2 warriors have disappeared from the Babylonian stack. What's this, then? They're bankrupt? Would be my highest bet.

IBT: One more warrior disappears... but about 10 bowmen come through Germany.

Monti spear > galley.

230AD [3] - 260AD [5]: We kill some barbs and the Babylonians don't know where they're going... they split up and half of them start going home again. :crazyeye:

270AD [6]: Wines get connected...

ank13_iroborder.jpg

280AD [7]: The Babylonians are in deep crisis... they're losing at least 2 bowmen I can see each turn!

We have contact with the Iroquois. They're still in the AA. Trade them Polytheism for 337gold + TM.

They have contact with Russia but we'll get it soon so I have no willing to buy it.

290AD [8]: Contact Russia. Cathy has nothing to offer, though.

300AD [9] - 320AD [12]: Incense connected... finally rid of the barb camp. We still can't set lux to 10%.

330AD [13] - 350AD [15]: Bizzy settler just beside our incense colony! We'll have to build the road to go through their city... connect the Northern incense rather than the southern so the first border expansion won't take it.

I think there are Indian borders in sight.

And they say a picture says more than a thousand words:

Tomoyo - UP!
Cuivienen - on deck
bed_head7
Formula51
Ankka

REMEMBER: 24h to post a "got it", total 48 to post turnlog and save.

And the save to next better player. :hatsoff:

Pre-flight: Increase productivity by 20%. Gain 7gpt by lower science slider.

Trade the Russians Poly for 54 gold and their WM.
Get silks from Babylon for 45 gold.
Get gems from Germany for 40 gold.

Lower lux slider. :D

360AD: Meet the Indians. Give them Philosophy and Construction for 380g and their WM. India is on a monster Island, but it is mostly tundra.

IT: Engineering --> Invention

380AD: Germans are building Sun Tzu’s.

IT: Cathedral --> Spearman

390AD: Try to form a unit wall protecting the wines.

IT: We get Monarchy from the Library. No, we don’t want to revolt, culture dude.

400AD: More unit wall forming…

IT: Spearman --> Spearman

430AD: Spearman --> Hanging Gardens. Germans show up with a horseman-settler pair.

440AD: Archer-settler pair lands in the north… in the perfect spot!

IT: Greeks demand Contact with Indians. Cave.

450AD: Incense colony built.

460AD: Bust a barb camp.

490AD: The German settler pair in the north still hasn’t settled…

500AD: The Greeks come along a little late with a settler pair.

Notes to the next player:
- The HG build can be changed to a pre-build (Sun Tzu) and later Leo’s.
- Dance some archers in the north.

Why leo's? Not that there's any better choice, though.

We certainly get the luxes cheap in vanilla. :)
