Yes boys and girls! It has been confirmed! As of 20 mins ago when I received this email from one of the design team at EB.

Spoiler :
Hello again Aranor. I bear great news. Having talked to the guys at EB, we agreed that we would love to have EB for Civ4 and You to lead it. It goes without saying that you are free to use EVERYTHING you see fit from EB for EBCIV (tentative name I coined up- please feel free to use your own)

There are some general principles we would like you to consider, which we feel are absolute necessity for this to work. Here they are by Kull, who will assist you (you can PM him but with caution, he is a busy person) -- Another one of us who will assist you is Balcksnail, he is the guy that comes up with ingenious solutions to obvious problems. I will always be a PM away, but from the coming Monday, I will again have a lot of work and not the time I would wish I could spend with EB.

2) Aranor or somebody be designated as the official leader of the mod.

3) We will *license* the use of the Europa Barbarorum Name and use of ALL our game materials in return for their promise to follow our "prime directive"; that historical accuracy must always be their guiding principle. And that full credit to the EB Team for all materials used be prominently displayed in their release (i'm thinking somewhere on the load screen, among others)

4) The Civ4 EB Team is completely responsible for recruiting their own team and dealing with the intricacies of modding something for the Civ4 Engine. The role of the TW EB Team is purely advisory - although we must be granted some degree of veto power to ensure that a mod with our name on it does not incorporate non-historical features (other than those which are engine-driven).

5) We expect the Civ4 Team to be honest and upright in their usage of materials. Seek permission before borrowing items from other mods (and accord credit). Avoid copyright infringements. Under no circumstances to grant usage rights of original TW EB Team materials to any third party.

I think all of the above are a pretty sensible ways for all of us to have a great co-operation.

-My only advice. Start small, just add civs much like you are already doing. Then add people and features as you go along. What should be done will reveal itself, and you will have already a base to build on.

I am really, really excited for the possibilities ahead, and me Kull and especially Blacksnail will try to help you out if we are able.

I just hope you are willing and able to lead the E.B.CIV or EBCIV or whatever, as I believe we are ready to arrange a forum for your usage.

P.S. On the Galatians, I will respond with another PM.

Cheers,
Keravnos

As anyone who has been following any of my threads in the custom civ section will know I have been hinting towards a possible conversion to civ4 for one of the greatest mods out there in Europa Barbarorum! Well now I can announce with certainty that EB can definitely go ahead for Civ4 Beyond the Sword!

So now it falls to me to ask the people here for help. Currently I am looking for anyone who can assist in ideas, and research (although any and all EB material has been made available to me). But unit makers, coders (C++, python and xml) are also needed. As it is I have already begun faction creation (most of my civs are based off of the EB model ;) )

If you are willing to lend a hand please let me know, I will gladly take all the help I can get! But other wise please feel free to post all ideas. I will get to writing up a comprehensive plan for what I envision very soon. So watch this space!

For those not familiar with Europa Barbarorum here is the link to their site to see what they are about. www.EuropaBarbarorum.com

Cheers

Sweboz - Completed by Aranor / pay-t

“Hellenistic”

Epeiros Completed by Aranor

Pontos - Completed by Drtad Updated to BtS by Aranor
Ptolemaioi - Under Construction by pay-t

“Eastern”

“North African”
Karthadastim

“Arabian”
Sab’yn

“Steppe”
Saka Rauka
Sauromatae - Completed by ElGrillo Updated to BtS by Aranor

“Roman”
Romani

To begin with these will be the starting factions. As the mod progresses more maybe (probably will be;) ) added. Eventually I would like to see a couple more Germanic tribes and maybe another Arabian faction or another steppe faction. :goodjob:

Features:

- To begin with this mod will only really add civs or “factions” to the game.

- Ethnically Diverse Units list for each faction. E.g.: Pezhetairoi for Hellenic Successor States but not for the Koinon Hellenon.

- New tech tree. With historically accurate ancient technology progression. Possibly even a faction tech tree to make each faction truly unique.

- Military reforms. Factions that historically had reforms of their military will get the ability to reform. E.g.: Roman Camillian, Polybian, Marian, and Augustian reforms.

- Recruit able regional troops. Each faction can recruit region troops to their cause when outside of their faction’s native lands. E.g.: the Aedui can recruit Greek classical Hoplites if they capture Athens.

- New Campaign map. A new map that spreads from the Russian Steppe to North Africa. From Ireland to India.

- Dynasties. No longer will your faction be led by one single leader. Instead they will be led by a royal family. Now you get to pick and choose who will lead your faction to glory!

- New traits system. This is one of the things that sets Europa Barbarorum apart from every over mod for the Total War series, and the original Total War games themselves!

- New factional victory conditions

- A new complex building system. Many unique to their own faction.

More information to come. But this seems to be a good starting point. Much of this will not take place for a while yet, however I do hope to get at least the Factions, EDU, buildings, reforms and tech trees off the ground early on.

And ofcourse I will sign up for the ideas/research part. And I could even make some of the civilizations:D Count me in:goodjob:

Groovy, glad to have you aboard! Right now I'm very much still in the development stage, hashing out what can and cant be done. As well soon I will begin civ making for this in earnest. Even if they are only for Warlords it will be a good chance to get it all going good.

Any idea's you can provide at this stage will be a great help. As soon as I get a few more people singed on I will try open up a forum on the EB main site. So as to be able to speak with the orginal team to get their input on ideas and progress.

Keravnos here, on my civ nick.

Excellent news here, Aranor, can't wait to see this rolling.

Great news, Aranor. You said you're working on something big, but this is not big, IT'S HUGE! I'm really looking forward to play this one.:goodjob:

And this isn't even what I was referring to. This has only really come about in the last 2 or 3 months. My current project has been in the works since I re-released Romania for Warlords last year, hint hint  and it should be ready to go by the end of this month, early next at the latest. As for EBCIV its going to be a while before we have a workable beta to release. pay-t and myself are already hard at work on the factions, but we both are splitting our time between current projects and this. Once my current project, and CivGold4 are released then the speed of factions being added and new feature being created will really hit high gear.

@ Kjaran

Glad to see you here Keravnos!:goodjob:

Hi there, you might have seen me over on the EB forums and I just came over to wish you all the best for this mod! I am a great fan of Civ4 and this really looks like an amazing project.

I probably wont be able to help you a huge amount, but I am fluent in Python if you need anything specific, don't hesitate to drop me a line.

Hi Arkatreides, yep I definately remember you;) , while I dont post much on the EB forums I pay close attention to what is going on and who is around.

Im actually in a real need for a good python person, as I suck at it  But this wont be untill we get into the Beyond the Sword stuff and have the factions released. Once that is done the main scripting will begin, primarily the tech tree. Right now I'm hopeing to be able to create a faction specific tech tree, or at the very least a regional tech tree (Roman, Eastern Greek, Western Greek etc....) Then the EDU will kick into high gear aswell.

Cheers

Hello! I don't know if you've seen me around at the org before. I may not be a very good CIV player for my skill at EB (incompetent, in fact), but all the best! Hope you come up with another nice mod to add to the EB family!

Thanks pez! :goodjob: This mod is plugging along nicely. Later today the Galatians will be released, and Pahlava now have about 50% of its art work done so should only be a few days from release, assuming my city lists can be found quickly.

The Sweboz are moving along too, however they have been slowed due to the fact the comprehensive city lists have been hard to find. However there has been requests for assistance made to the faction head of the Sweboz for RTW:EB. Hopefully in a few days we will have our answer :D and it will be released.

Is there anything I can do to help? I'm good at putting maps together, such as placing and editing cities/units etc I've even made, and am still working on, my own scenario. I've played EB for RTW and would love to help this however I can

If you are good with maps, you'd be a huge help to us. Currently we are still developing the factions. But if we can get a working map done relatively early, it would help us immensely. If you have a copy of EB 0.81a v2 the current map in that is the final version of the map that they will use in the final build and would be you best source. If you need any more information drop me a pm and I can go into more detail.

Aranor.... I really need to show you how to Code these civs in Plug and play form.... I hope you are interested in this. It's quite Simple let me post my Sample's here for you to take a look at.

This the format that Civ Gold 4.0 will be put in. From there... Amra's Mods are next... and then I'll Tackle SEVO MOD. Imagine being able to take Little parts of each Mod and just slide them into your own personal mod. Wouldn't that be cool... and best of all Easy.

The other thing is... I have noticed that it is very easy to manage your mod with these samples. You can tell what is complete and what isn't complete by seeing what is left to rename.
