. Hummm, well the Corvette is a small War Ship, smaller than the Frigate. I am basically introducing it since several French and British players have complained about Naval warfare being unbalanced. On the other hand the money out of Trade routes was minimal for some Civs- such as Austria (I once got 28 out of trade between Paris and Lemberg and it took me 5-6 rounds to build that thing- a lot if you are Prussian or any nation with limited numbers of cities
). It used to be cheaper, but then the problem was that the AI was sending out an army of traders and stopped defending itself properly...
The idea will be that there is going to be less money for Monarchies and Empires, less Military capacity for Consular States and Republics. Players will thus have to see if they will want to embrace more peaceful strategies such as researching and building up early in the game, or if they try and build up a fierce army for offence and defense.
This way I am hoping to limit both Emisaire random use, as well as the naval unbalance of power...
BTW I love to play on and building my little empire in war, but even more during peace-time
