Another Gamescom writeup

I wouldnt have thought you will be able rush wonders with gold.... but maybe you will be able too, you certainly won't be able to rush the projects though, utopia/manhattan/apollo/ maybe the un building is considered one too. Probably the palace too if you can rebuild it.

I'm pretty sure it has been confirmed that Wonders can be rushed with Gold, but *not* Projects.

Aussie.

This report is made of awesome. Thanks for the info! :hello:

Added part two on the first page. :)

Are roads really expensive to buid if you compare this cost to the overall economy ?
Do you need to have road building strategy or just build them to connect the cities and don't care too much because it is still 5% of overall economy ?

I didn´t notice the costs of roads too much, other empire expenses are higher (units, buildings). I connected all my cites for trade routes and for faster troop movement ;)

Which ways have you seen to get production without hills and forests? (Ok, then again there's also plains).

Good question, I didnt see any. But You can make these cities high food specialist farms and rush a few buildings I guess (or trade posts for gold). On the other hand it seems really unlikely that a city wont have some hills or forests in the three city rings sorrounding it.
The works of Great Persons constructed on hex tiles are a great way to specialize your cities, too.

Thanks, Wenz, for both part 1 and 2, they add together well :)

Have you seen if there is cost for improvements to upkeep them?

Wonders: I couldn´t play long enough to see much of diplomacy in action. There were some pacts of friendship between civs and announced protection of city states of course. AI civs signed science agreements among each other and with me. I even got robbed by the Germans, who signed such a treaty only to break it five turns later...
Hmm, do you know why they did so? Not only did they rob you; they robbed themselves too by cancelling that deal if I am not mistaken. Did they declare war on you?

Thanks for the nice report Wenz :D

There is one thing I don't believe I've seen discussed though... were you able to see if the leaders' dress changes with the periods? For some reason that was a big part of the immersion in Civ 3 for me. Shaka looks great in a nice jacket and slacks.

I also enjoyed the leaders dress change, kinda shows progression of your empire..

Does anyone know if city states would ever branch out and conquer other city states then becoming a new empire civ?

Thanks very much for the preview.

But this again:
like no overview about the AI relations, which civilization protects which city states,

Terrible, terrible (damaged) design.
They said that city states were supposed to make you declare war carefully - we don't want to attack another city state because that will piss off its protector (eg Germany, Belgium, UK).

But thats useless if we can't tell at a glance who will get offended.
