As other people, I have a typical problem these days since I installed the patch. Started a new game (which worked perfectly), played for 1 hour, tried to load that game later and it crashes. There is no way it works (dx9, dx11). I have been playing this game for years without any problem. I don't think, either, that my computer is obsolete.

I am not sure this is gonna be useful, cause i am pretty sure is a problem from the patch, but my dxdiag is the following:

Do you have any new .mdmp files in your Civ V program folder? Thanks!

Yeah, I have a total amount of 10. Don't know the format so i can't read them.

9 of them are named like: civilizationv_dx11_310700_crash_2012_6_15T16_36_21C0.mdmp
and were created today, after the new patch.

Only one is from may.

I tried several times to Validate my cache. All the time, the result is
"one product couldn't be validated and will be adquired again". Then, a new download start, after that, a new installation, and then I try and it crashes again.

Language: Spanish (Regional Setting: Spanish)

I think, this could be the cause. Just remember the same issue after Civ5 release.

Russian users also report this problem with new saved games.

I don't use Win XP, but Windows 7 (64bit). I can change civ language, but not operating system's.

No need to change OS, but you could try just move your Documents folder to a new location with only English characters in the path, e.g. С:/Documents - it works, at least for me.

I can't see a way to rename the c:\usuarios\myuser folder in windows7. I do have an á character on it, could it be the problem? It never was before...

It shouldn't really be. It was a problem at the release, but was patched out.
You should be able to move the folder to another destination in the properties menu (just right click on the icon on the desktop, then click properties at the bottom, and then you should come to a menu where you can relocate the folder.

But like said, it should not be a problem at all.

Important question: Are you able to start new games, or is just the old game a problem?

Sure, I can start a new game. I was able to play like 2 hours without any problem yesterday, after patch was installed. There is a problem loading the new games. It freezes after 4 or 5 seconds trying. The sound disapears and if i hit enter, i go to the desktop.
Old games load succesfuly, but they are unplayable.

mmhh...I guess it would be useful to know if somebody else can load your savegames.
If you attach one, someone can maybe test it (sadly I can't help there, no access to Civ5 :().

Maybe your computer is too stressed with loading the game totally at once (due to...whatever :dunno:). To test that, please start a new game, and load from within the new game your savegame. That might be a bit less stressing, because some things like the game engine are then already initiated.

My saved game:

I tried what you say, load from another game, but is not working.
It is not a stressing problem, performance is not a problem. Is something related to the files. As I said, my validation always goes wrong. Steam download again, install it again, and again something is corrupt.

Hi.

I have extacly the same issue as you. I also can run the game without problems but can't load post-patch saved games.

I also have a not normal character (~) on my Windows User account(WUA). I already try change WUA name but didn't change users path.

Here is the link to my saved game:

The only difference between OP and me is I don't have any file with this extension on my Civ folder.

Could you please zip them up and post them to a place I can grab them? Public FTP, etc.? Thanks much!

@faras: The save crashes on my machine as well while loading though before the crash I get a very weird screen I have never seen before. It says "Bonus Label" and shows the icon of the pyramid wonder. Then the game crashes.
Are you sure you play without modes ?
This is the mdmp-file:

@JolouPT: I can load your save and continue the game without problems.

@faras -- I can load your save file and play several turns without crashing. I haven't had any problems with the patch.

But it is really the problem. Many Russian players have exactly the same problem with new saved games after the patch. And the solution is to get rid of non-english characters in the path to saves.

I hope they fix it soon. Well, once again

Not Rename, but Change Location. Here is video tutorial

Are you sure you play without modes ?
Yeah, i am sure. My mod folder is empty, and don't even know how to install them. I haven't try that feature yet.

That thing about a new screen you get... i don't know, this new patch has introduced new images of wonders all around the game, but ive never seen that "bonus label" thing.

Thanks everyone.
