TF,

How about automatic shortcuts to wikipedia (and while we're at it, to a dictionary)?

eg:

[Wiki]Quantum_theory[/wiki]
Would parse to
[url=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quantum_theory]Quantum_theory[/url]

and
[Wiki=Quantum_theory]theory[/wiki]
Would parse to
[url=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quantum_theory]theory[/url]

You could do the same with dictionary:

[dictionary]Quantum[/dictionary]
Would parse to
[url=http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/quantum]Quantum[/url]

Now to get even more carried away:

[google]Quantum[/google]
Would parse to
[url=http://www.google.com/search?source=ig&hl=en&q=quantum&meta=]Quantum[/url]

(and the last two could also have the [google=quantum]title[/googe] tag option as well).

I've seen the wiki and google things on another forum.

Not bad, but the wiki one is not that good. But many wiki articles don't have redirects. Or maybe i'm just paranoid and like to check if the link works before puting it up. :D

The dictionary tags are a great idea tho. :)

(btw, this is one of the few times i've seen a mod make a typo in the title :mischief:; but since you are evil it's ok :D)

Superb idea, Ainwood!

You know what else would be realy cool? If we had an anchor embedded page with all unit, tech, wonder, buildings etc etc. Then you could have a tag that links to the entry! Would be great for all those newbies in the GD forums.

Not sure about the google thing. I don't use google search links myself, but maybe they're useful in the Civ sections. Wiki and dictionary.com ones would be nice though.

All added. :)

For Wiki, the code is [wiki]. Example: [wiki]civilization[/wiki]
For dictionary, the code is civilization
For Google, the code is [google]. Example: [google]civilization[/google]

Note that the last two codes don't have = tag options. The dictionary uses tfd.com, which has fewer ads and free word pronunciation." target="link">. Example: civilization
For Google, the code is [google]. Example: [google]civilization[/google]

Note that the last two codes don't have = tag options. The dictionary uses tfd.com, which has fewer ads and free word pronunciation.
