Anti steam threads locked?

Threads with over 500 replies shouldnt be locked on a whim. I pm'd the moderators but no one responded. If people misbehave punish the people not the thread.

Question for Civfanantic...may companies make fan sites sign contracts in order to receive content. Is this site one of them? Many of the mods and community leads here have been muzzled by Non-Disclosure Agreements for there involvement in the beta. I am uncomfortable with the message I got that suggested criticizing the company and its representative is off-limits. The company and its rep are the only people productive and appropriate to criticize.

With the website and the community leaders under contract, just how much control does 2K and Steam have over the media here ? Is Civfanatics a community of gamers or a convenient place to gather the customer for targeted advertisements?

On a sidenote, if you read the forum rules you can see that moderator actions may not be critizises on the forum. You may mail the mods and if they do not respond then the case is over. Threads like these are not allowed.

It got to 500 before being shut, im sure they could have done it sooner, but let it run its course. Where you in the middle of a new debate, or both sides just repeating the same facts?

You slagged off a lady just doing her job. That's low to attack the actual person who is in all probability just following orders on what she can and can't say. It's been my experience with people in those positions that they know as little as the public does, and whatever she does get told gets passed on ASAP.

As an admin at another Civ fansite, I find your post quite offensive in your accusations of "selling out".

Aside from the fact that most Steam threads are open, and the one that got locked was locked because the people there basically couldn't have a civil conversation with each other, I would like to see your evidence for these two statements:

If I'm mistaken in that belief, I'd like to see your evidence to the contrary.

"I am uncomfortable with the message I got that suggested criticizing the company and its representative is off-limits." -- I saw the thread you started to boot the 2k rep. It was a disaster. I would like to see proof of this message though. Also note that "suggested" is an important word in that sentence.

I am going to take a moment to look at the 'claims' you have made.

If you took a few moment to see, the threads were locked after repeated flames/trolls from both sides.

We don;t get content from Friaxis, we get it from sites like Gametrailers, Kotaku and IGN, just to name a few, if you would care to take the time to read the sources in the confirmed features thread you would know that.

While I can not speak for every Mod in this forum, I am not part of the Beta test, nor have I ever signed a NDA or for that fact any agreement with Friaxis or Steam

I was fine dealing with this matter through pms, but if you insist you 'thread' regarding 2K Elizabeth was closed because you were making personal attacks on another member and making unsubstantiated claims about the professionalism 2K's representative.
