...but that is due to many factors. One is there was a large rainstorm that occurred shortly before and during part of it. Another, the most important factor, is poor advertising for the protest, whereas every Bay Arean knew that the one in 2003 was going to occur. I, for example, only heard about its existance the day of about twenty minutes before it was going to start. I was going to go but I could not get transportation and I do not know how to use the trans-Bay buslines and my mom probably wouldn't let me bart. But had I known about it I could easily have made arrangements. Also, do political rallies now seem to oppose more than one issue, or is this one just particularly anti-Bush and anti-New Ancien Régime in addition to being anti-war, as the Second Iraq War, the Old Order, and Bush are viewed as going hand in hand?

About a week ago, some military recruiters were blocked by protestors from attending a job fair at San Francisco State University.

Here's the original link. I know it's from a nut-site (anarchists) but photos are photos.

I know Hartford also hosted an Anti-War protest today.

I would beg to differ that the war is still going on, there are still attacks from insurgents. Mission Accomplished? I dont think so Emperor Bush.

[insert generic "your comment is completely random and baseless" response here]

That and you're wrong. Although the "main phase" of combat is long passed, the US still fights guerrillas and terrorists on the ground and for the hearts and minds of the Iraqi people.

So what?? America has been fighting guerillas and terrorists on its own soil (Timothy McVeigh for example) for two centuries.

So you're saying that America's mission in the Second Iraq War has been accomplished?

I don't think he is saying that. Yes, America as made some strides to completing some of its goals, but we are not close to completing our goals. In 2007... maybe.

Must I rant on how this was not a war!? It was Agreesive Hostilities!

Sheesh, these people are protesting something which doesn't exist! War was never declared!

Recent pentagon report showed at it's current "Projected" rate US coalition will be fighting in Iraq for at least 12 years. So that makes it 2014 ..... maybe

Those photos are pretty funny. "Socialism and liberation," "Christian fascists."

Yes, I'm going to make you eat at McDonald's and make you listen to Bible passages!

If you truly believe the war has ended, I ask you to take a vacation in Iraq this Spring and prove this.

Actually, the latter is already happening, though not necessarily by your hand.

I hate protesting, the multinational companies are calling all the shots and all we do is protest about them being big, greedy and unfair, and yet we pay taxes and pay their food. If these guys really cared about that going on in the world then they would take up arms.

Another wasted effort by a bunch of losers. Socialists and anarchists...........hardly worth the cost of a bullet.

King, I'm talking about major combat operations. I mean, read the article that Sims linked to, here's one of the slogans some of them chanted: "while you're shopping, bombs are dropping."

Bombs are dropping? Was Iraq really that strong to where we needed to bomb them for two years?

Major combat operations include having ~150,000 troops occupying an area. They certainly tie up a substantial amount of troops and money, don't they? And also I recall there are certain instances (like Fallujah) where full scale ground assaults are mounted.

(On an unrelated and spammy note, BTW, this is the first time I've ever had anyone refer to me as soley "King")

Better not tell Germany then, they might think we're still at war with them.

We aren't fighting conventional adversaries. These are non-uniformed combatants. They don't represent a country or an army. They're terrorists.
