Any Downside to Miasma in Your Hexes?

I experimented tonight with having a layered defense by adding Miasma to my outlaying hexes that had been improved. My Energy per turn seemed to disappear as I added it, but don't know if the Miasma inhibited production from those hexes or not.

My question is: Does Miasma in improved hexes inhibit their production of stuff or not?

And a related question is: Does a road hex with Miasma inhibit Resource bonuses between the capital and one of its satellite cities?

Miasma blocks trade units if you don't have miasma immunity.

Miasma blocks the construction of Terrascapes.

Miasma damages or heals most units that end their turn in a hex with it.

Miasma does not block road connections.

And the miasmic condensers, like all sats, count towards your unit maintenance costs.
