Any idea how to fix minimap?

It's really bugging me that minimap gets painted over when you acquire tiles. Suddenly whole minimap is painted all colors and the only way to see what's land and what's sea/ocean is actually scrolling there? Not to mention the pain of painting over small-ish islands.
Only LAND was painted in civ's color in previous games. It makes no sense they changed it like this...

Afaik - no way as of now. It's not coded in Lua, it's some internal thing. Access to source code is required to write a new map.
