Any Tips for Monarch?

They attacked me with Ancient cavs and a ton of outdated units, 4 knights werent harmed at all and i had about 5 more that were badly injured.

Not sure what a ton is, but it sounds like they were isolated for a time (maybe on an island?) and as such would have lots of units. If you invade an island that has had lots of time, you can expect to face a lot of units.

Invasion implies an island or a small continent to me. Knights imply plenty of time for the AI to build junk units. That is what an island civ does. This means I must have at least one army to cover my stack or many defensive units to take the hit.

If no army, then I want to be on the best ground to take the hit and have many pikes to soak up damage and let me survive the first attack. I am for sure going to get a leader out of the defense.

Depending on the level and the expected tech, I would prefer to bring a settler and drop a town on a hill. Best if I can force all the one move units to not reach an get an extra turn, so only horses can attack the first round.

Now I get my leader and make an army and move it on a tile to let if cut off some access and get in some ZoC shots. Expect to get another leader from the archers and swords and then look to do damage. Maybe able to get an offensive leader with the knight attacking the slow movers.

Basically you need to have enough experience at these situations to be able to make a good assesment of your odds at invading. That comes from doing it many times. Meaning failures are part of the learning curve.

as some people already have told you, NEVER automate workers! That way, they're managed by the AS and just by looking at a few games you can see by yourself how much the AS stinks at managing workers.
