Anyone able to explain this?

Looking at the powergraph of my game, Arendal Pheadrea, who used to be the most powerful state, has undergone a rapid and steady decline over the past 40 turns or so...without being at war. Now she is one of the least powerful states. I'd estimate her troop levels dropped by about 80% or more.

Anyone able to solve this mystery?

My guess is this: Auric had dropped a stasis on us about 50 turns ago. Theoretically you don't lose or gain any money, except Arendal was giving me 18gpt for a resource. So...after about 10 turns she ran out of money and was forced to disband her ENTIRE ARMY because of how stasis works?

If I'm correct, should this be flagged as a bug? Seems extremely exploitable if I were the one actually controlling the Illians.

Now after Stasis ends I have to go into worldbuilder and give her a bunch of units :/

(PS never put both the amurites and Illians into the same Marathon game. 60 turns of no spellcasting followed by 60 turns of Stasis...have fun pressing enter!)

If you are sure that your trade agreement was still being processed, then it sounds like you explained it yourself. (Except for the first turn of stasis, your gold total should not have been changing, so if you were gaining 18 gold per turn that would mean she was losing 18 gold - which would be a problem.) If you still have a save from during the stasis then it would be easy to confirm. If that's what was happening then you should report this in the bug thread, and post the save as supporting evidence.

I was actually gaining 31 gpt :D due to other gpt deals, but those were nickel and dime 5-7 gpt ones, so their powergraphs didn't budge because I assume they had enough cash reserves to pay out. Guess I'll put a save in the bug thread later.

That is probably how Regan beat the Russians in the _Cold_ War ;)
