It sure doesn't help keep the Civ II GOTM alive when there is no actual game to play.

Not really... Last month when I posted GOTM #12, I annouced that "In the future, the Civ2 GOTM will be posted on the 3rd of every month and the saved games will be due on the 5th, so that I don't need to post both Civ3 and Civ2 GOTM's on the same day". It's on the rules page of the Civ2 GOTM.... I also mentioned that in the news and in this GOTM forum.

Makes sense. That'll teach me to read the stuff each time. I usually just open the thread and get the saved game file.

Hell, that means I would have had 3 more days to try and play out GOTM 12. Oh well, that's what I get for trying to do four things at once.

Ok, so now it's the 3rd, where's the GOTM then?

Hey, why does Civ 3 get to come out on the 1st and we get bumped to the 3rd? Damn Admins that want to support the part of the forums that have 80% of the activity....:crazyeyes

P.S. Can anyone tell I am rather obsessed about the Civ II GOTM going away....?

While I no longer play any of the GotM (time problems) I hope that both of them stay open. I played and submitted for the first of both Civ2 and 3 and I think it would be a shame for either of them to fold. I have played Civ2 again (on my wife's computer at work) and still find the game interesting, if a little easy when compared to 3 (the fact that I can beat Diety on 2 but have a tough time on 3 with Regent...). When I have time I will be back with a vengence!

Civ II will live a lot longer than some might think. And the GOTM support seems to be growing again, too .

I notice you often get killed, donsig, yet continue participating with the GOTM. I think that's the way to go: never give up.

And have fun when you play the game. People should play and submit each month, regardless of score (IMHO).

CIV, CIV, CIV, ..., Civ2, Civ3, SMAC, Civ1, ..., job, business, house, wife

You qualify to have the "Fanatic" listed before the "Civ", Lucky. Congrats, FanaticCiv-er! On the downside, you probably won't qualify for the the "job, business, house, wife.." part for a while, LOL!
