Anyone else feeling discouraged?

I think many people, like myself, might not be interested in Civ 7, due to the develops attitude in not fixing Civ 6 or enabling modders to do so. Have to wait on that one.

Exactly. Let one or the other happen. The fact that neither has happened is nothing but corporate greed, period.

We don't know why they haven't released the DLL. It could be corporate greed, though I don't see how. More likely, they used some third-party libraries that they aren't licensed to release to us.

They promised the DLL within the first year. But keep defending that. And if you don't see how that is corporate greed let me know -- they probably think that Vox Populi hurt Civ 6 sales, and the may or may not be right. So, that's how.

There's no evidence that VP had any effect whatsoever on sales on Civ VI. That's just baseless conjecture. And without that, the argument for corporate greed is gone. And despite my attempts to "Google it", I can find no evidence of a promise to release the DLL.

I have read 3 articles on the "most moddable civ ever" since my post all dated 4-5 years ago. You really can't find it?

EDIT: So, if it is the most moddable civ ever, and Civ 4 had DLL release after 6 months and Civ 5 after 18 months, maybe it's just inferred. Why are you so, SO defending the corporation? What is your agenda (both of you)?

They were referring to the non-DLL aspects of modding and in that, they're right. They never promised the DLL. From an article on PC Games N, featuring Gedemon (and others):

Before talking about the limitations of modding without access to the DLL source, Gedemon praises the game’s basic modding toolset. “When Firaxis said Civ VI was built from the ground up with modding in mind, it wasn’t lying”, he tells me. “We can make new units, buildings, leaders, and more easily than in Civ V. We can completely change the terrain graphics (we could in Civ IV, but not in Civ V). We have access to all original assets, including DLC and expansions – not the case in Civ IV or V – and the modifier system is a powerful tool.”

Maybe you should step back and stop with the aggressive nonsense like accusing us of having an agenda. We just prefer actual facts to baseless accusations.

Well, none of the rest of us understood this to be the case. How do you know different? I've been here the whole time. And there is no way on God's green earth it is the "most moddable" without the dll. Period. If you think this is the case you don't know the first thing about modding.

You made a baseless claim with no evidence and then failed to provide evidence when asked. That's all there is to say about it. Whether they should release the DLL is a different topic than whether they promised to.

No agenda. You're putting words into their mouths, they never promised it. And do you have a source for them saying it "would be the most moddable civ ever"? Again, Googled it, and nothing apart from someone here on CFC quoting them saying that it would be mod friendly...

Yep, all I do here is make baseless claims. You're right. Perfect game. Perfect AI. Perfect everything. You are correct.

... please don't accuse people without evidence. Maybe people don't like to accuse people without evidence. Even if it is "big bad" cooperation.

I've GOT to at lease rebuke you on this one. I'll give just one of countless examples:

"I remember this was one of the first things I read about or learned of at the release of the trailer. The engine is supposed to be more accessible to modders and the possibilities even greater. Considering how many mods Civ 5 ended up with, I think we're in for a real treat."

From this thread:

https://www.reddit.com/r/civ/comments/5796mz/how_modfriendly_will_civ6_be/

That's reddit, not CFC. Oh, and maybe the original trailer has now been taken off the internet. But that doesn't mean that it doesn't or didn't exist. Thanks for your personal insults, all of you.

Please dear lordy stop with personal attacks

I never insulted you.

Secondly, I'd have to know what I'm looking for. All I had was your phrasing to work with, and Google came back with basically nothing before 2018 apart from the CFC thread. Hence why I asked you for where you got it from, because I don't know what exactly it is you are referencing.

I mean it is your job to verify a claim you made. I mean you typed all that and you needed to do was link the reddit.
