and then proceeded to clarify that they had Civ III in stock, not Civ IV. Yes, you read that right; the guy didn't even know that there was a new Civilization coming out. WHAT'S THIS WORLD COMING TO?


Oh, and by the way, does anyone know if Canada's EB is getting the special edition preorders or not? I did preorder but I have a feeling it's just the regular edition...pshh...first our country isn't included in the game, and now no special edition?

i went to ebgames today..cuz i needed a second copy civ 4, and was told it comes out oct 25th. Was told if u preorder before oct 19th then u get the special version, after that u get the regualer version.

So far, only one person other than from Firaxis has confirmed they already have a copy (although he is unable to play it; oh, the irony).

A number of people mentioned Amazon changing shipping dates so I went and checked my order for the Presell Edition and it appears I was given the same treatment: I ordered it on the 6th and was up for 2-3 day shipping, and I was told I would originally get it on the 27th, but now it says November 1.

Oh well, I'm not too concerned about when I get it. I have patience. ;P

I doubt it, people don't come to frys to buy pc games as much. I bet there probably be a stack just sitting there. People seem to run there for the occasional junk items like cheap cds, backpacks etc. And when they run those 1 day only sales. people come for everything even if its not the great of a deal

24 hours for company sometimes means 2 days or 3. at least for me.

When a company says "ships in 24 hours", they mean that 24 hours or less will pass between the time your order is porcessed and the time it goes out the door. What happens to it after that is completely out of the merchant's hands.

So, it's 9am CET, the day where the new CIV4 is to be released.

I sit here reading all the stories about all the people who can barely wait for it to come out and smiling a bit at the impatience displayed.

Maybe I should tell you a little story. See, I'm European. A citizen of the Kingdom of Denmark. Presently I'm living in Poland though. My comp can't run the game. Even worse, I can't just upgrade it, because I'll be moving internationally again in summer and I'm going to need all I can save for that. So, not only will I have to wait for summer, I will also need to work enough to cover lots of other expenses first. So, for me the ETA is in about 12 months.

With that perspective it makes it amusing to see how some react like it's a life or death situation

Even so, I will be lurking and cursing at my luck. At least there will be patches out at that time and maybe I'll even get the game at a reduced price

I called some shops in Croatia and they even dont know will they have it. So i will have to order it from amazon.

But to get it in Croatia (we are still not part of EU) i need to wait for two weeks or more.

in the US, where it is supposed to be released today, it is only between 1-4am... nobody has it yet cuz the stores aren't open yet

I juz dun understand why people dun go down to teh store?

Where i coem from, when a game is released on lets say monday, then its in that store monday morning with the first shipment they get. If i gotta wait for some online thing to ship it, wich happens later that monday or even thusday then i still gotta wait 2-3 days before it reaches me, so in teh worst case scenario i dun get to play it untillFriday with online shops, where as i could be playing the very monday morning. Only if it really was a monday afternoon then coz shops dun open till 1pm here on mondays

But thats juz some example i got going here. Unless if it saves you like alot of money with pre-ordering, wich in my case ran upto about 20-30 euro's less then the store retail price. I recon i cna wait 2-3 days longer for that

i don't ensure whether CIV4'll be released in china
when CIV3 released in china, i bought one , but soon i found there is no china in games instead of a nation called jiu ding guo ,for some reason ,mabey Polity,i thought.
