Anyone played "Pirates"?

People don't remember the original Pirates? Man, that makes me feel old.

This should make you feel better: I have played both (the original back when it came out) but for some reason all the details I really remember are from the older version. Especially the land battles (probably because they were so slow!). I don’t really remember the newer version!

The old Pirates was amazing for it's time. I first played it in black and white on a Mac. Exploring a huge map was fairly new at the time, and really gave a sense of immersiveness. I think the only game with this feature before then was Seven Cities of Gold. For both of these games, it took a long time to discover that there wasn't really much to do on these huge maps. Before you were exposed to all the games content, it felt like you could have fun exploring forever.

Does anyone else remember staring at the pixelated 256 color governors daughters and saying "HOLY COW LOOK AT THE GRAPHICS!!"?

Meh, I had EGA, 16 colors all the way! Some chicks were hot anyway. Still got crush on blonde(s) in white dress(es) with large fan(s). Always married them.

I preferred the red-headed ones and funny enough, that's what I ended up with. I'm living the Pirates dream!

After you pointed that, I just thought about what I am ended with, and she does looks like these governor daughters! Blonde, of course, it always was my preference.

That would be scary if it wasn't been awesome.
