Hey guys,

Can you run a stable game at 1280 x 1024 with everything maxed out?

I have a 6800 GT 256MB, and a gig of RAM on an Athlon 64 3200, and a 3 GB page file. I get crashes a plenty at the high resolution, but a stable game at 1024 x 768.

I run the game at that resolution with everything maxed out but with single unit animations. I have the same card as you (BFG 6800GT 256). I have no problems other than some artifacting on the battleship unit. Which IMHO while annoying is not game breaking and I doubt has anything to do with the game itself.
With that said the game runs, scrolls, loads very well until I get into world view, then I get about 1 FPS.

I can.

AMD Athlon XP 3000+, 1,5GB RAM, GeForce 6600GT.

You may want to check and update your graphics, DirectX, MoBo etc drivers.

I'm running fine at the res. too with the same card, everything on high, etc.

1280x1024 is my normal resolution. It's been very stable. I've even run for hours at 1776x1000, displaying the game on an HDTV, with all settings on high, 4x AA.

I have an Athlon XP 3000+, 1 GB of RAM and an ATI X850Pro.

Yes

9800 pro. 1 Gig Ram. Pentium 4 3.0ghz. ~1.5GB page file.

It rarely crashes and runs OK at the later ages (~25-30fps)

Yes it works at 1280x1024 for me, on my very outdated PC (1.4GHz Athlon, 768MB RAM, GeForce Ti 200). Although I get the usual graphics glitches after a couple hours of play, and slowness when on the diplomatic screen. (happens regardless of resolution)

Currently playing on 1280 x 1024.

GeForce 6800nu 128mb w/XG 81.95

1GB RAM

FPS drops in the different stages of the game. I start with appx 43 FPS, and it gradually goes down to 21-28 FPS.

Yep, 1280x1024 with no problems. Did have the wide-zoom smeary stripes at first until I updated drivers. Been at 1280x1024 since day one and never had a crash. Happily playing 1.09 now.

Homemade dual 3.06G P4, 2G RAM, NVidia 6600 256M AGP, M-audio 2496.

(Off-topic side point: nVidia users, be sure to uninstall your old driver before updating.)

Ok we have more or less the same pc (I have 6600GT which is a better card) and I get about 5FPS in later ages on huge maps with 18 civs.

What is wrong with my game?:(

Runs fine with those settings for me:-

Opteron 148 @ 3.3Ghz
7800 GTX 512 81.95 Drivers
2 x 512Mb BH-5 RAM

I run at 2560x1600 (the apple 30"); have had no crashes (pre or post patch),
and the graphics are smooth and fast. Quality all at max.

I sometimes run in a 1600x1200 window, that's fast and stable also.

Pre-patch, I once or twice had the smear; hard to know if it's been fixed.

So... I'd say high resolution displays seem to be handled well,
if everything else is working properly.

7800GT, 81.85 drivers.
P4 540J (3.2ghz), 2x1GB ram.

I've got a lesser machine over all than that and I run it at 1280x1024. I haven't had a crash on the release version yet.

I can run the game at 1280x1024, with all graphic options maxed out, and it works like a charm, even on my crappy video card. My specs are: P4 3.06 Ghz, 1 GB RAM, GeForce4 MX 420 (64 MB).

Celeron 2.0, 512meg memory, nvideo FX5700 256meg video...

Runs good at 1280 x 1024, I prefer this setting for the game.

All new drivers installed, high graphics settings, slows down in the industrial age due to all the graphical images visable, but is still playable.
