Apocalypse New York
As the name implies, it's a post-apocalyptic setting with 6 competing factions fighting over the valuable resources contained in a ruined New York city (don't ask me why there's valuable resources in a ruined city there just is). I know a nuclear apocalypse is so yesterday but hey I was a kid growing up in the 80's and I had a real fear (at about 10yrs old) of a big white glow being the last thing my young eyes saw before they were vapourised along with the rest of my body. This fear wasn't helped by my father who dictated that we would all walk calmly into the street, hand in hand and await our fate (we couldn't afford a fallout shelter). Every plane passing over my house was checked to see if it looked missile-like (I kid you not but who's laughing now).

But I digress so on to the details of the scenario. The 6 factions are:

Ragnar's Raiders (Expansionist) These guys are your stereotypical, post-apocalyptic, Biker Gang.
Leader: Boss Ragnar Ironsides
Cities: North Bergen*; Union City; Jersey City; Interstate 78; Turnpike; Giants Stadium;
Fort Lee; Hoboken; Holland Tunnel; Weehawken; Lincoln Tunnel; Bayonne; Newport; Route 1

French Canadian Armee (Militaristic) Military arm of a relatively intact and independent Quebec. Joan's orders are to recon the area, look for resources and set up a military base.
Leader: Commandeur Joan d'York
Cities: Arverne*; Ozone Park; Queens Village; Astoria; Blissville; Utopia; Bellaire; Bellerose; Breezy Point; Corona; Clearview; Pomonok; Laurelton; Far Rockaway; Floral Park; LeFrak City; Long Island City; Jackson Heights; Brookville; Flushing; Hunters Point;
Queensbridge; Sainte Albans; Sommerville

Brotherhood of Man (Religious) John Lennon once sang "Imagine there's no countries..lah, lah, lah, blah". That's actually quite easy in a post-apocalyptic scenario where there are no countries. These guys are your stereotypical religious fundamentalists "tidying" up the world for Judgement Day.
Leader: The Shepherd
Cities: Sunset Park* ; Gravesend; Homecrest; Ocean Parkway; Parkville; Pigtown; Prospect Heights; Fort Hamilton; New Utrecht; Manhattan Beach; Plum Beach; Sea Gate; Sheepshead Bay; Barren Island; Flatlands; DUMBO; Georgetown; Marine Park; Highland Park; New Lots; Spring Creek

Mutant Freakazoids (Agricultural) These are the mutated relics of the once, happy inhabitants of NYC. But remember, mutants are people too - well sort of...
Leader: Humungous Khan
Cities: Hell's Kitchen*; Tenderloin; Five Points; Meatpacking District; Greenwich Village;
Alphabet City; Chelsea; Chinatown; K-town; East Village; Battery Park; Little Italy;
Tribeca; Bowery; Flatiron; Kips Bay; Stuyvesant Town; NoLIta; Soho; Gramercy; Turtle Bay

New York Natives.
Leader: Mayor Murphy (Industrious) A coalition of relatively unmutated former NYC inhabitants and recent refugees from outlying areas. These guys are trying to rebuild society and make NY their new home.
Cities: Central Park Village *; Times Square; Yankee Stadium; Yorkville; Harlem; Carnegie Hall; Rockefeller; Bloomingdales; Freedom Tower; Chrysler Building; Ansonia; Trump Tower; Waldorf-Astoria; Madison Square; The Dakota; Ed Sullivan Theater; Empire State Ruins;
Morris Heights; The San Remo; Inwood; Marble Heights; Manhattanville; Midtown; Fort Apache

Underground Mutants Nasty things that lurk just out of sight. Unlike the Freakazoids these mutants have nothing like a human origin. Their only interest in NYC is to live off of its inhabitants as parasites.
Leader: ? (?)
Cities: underground tunnels, the sewer system etc.

More details to follow but I require to pick the collective brains of this fantastic community.

Resources:
Bonus: Scrap Metal; Canned Food;
Luxury: Salt; Liquor; Meds
Strategic: Fuel; Spare Parts; Books; Ammo

Terrain Types:
Building Rubble; Scorched Earth; Concrete; City Ruins; Irradiated Zone

Unit Lines:
Foot: basic improvised weapons; archaic missile weapon; small gun; big gun; Anti-vehicle
Vehicle: Recon/Raider; Dueller (Road Duels); Assault (street fighter); Artillery Type
Sea: small raft paddle; larger raft sail.

...of the map. If you squint hard enough you can see the barb camps; goody huts and some resources. The blasted city-scape is apparent enough.

Hehe.. those team names sound like fun :) - reminds me of our table hockey league when I was in school: we had also cool team names, like Petroskoi ballbreakers and Tsernobyl mutants :p

:D Those are good names. May I use them? I could make them Barbs. Barbs are Street Gangs in my scenario. Currently I stole my barb names from the Gang's of New York Film: 19th Street Gang; 40 Thieves; Boodle Gang; Bowery Boys; Charlton Street Gang; Cherry Hill Gang; Chichesters; Crazy Butch Gang
Daybreak Boys; Dead Rabbits; Dutch Mob; Five Points; Gas House Gang; Gopher Gang; Grady Gang; Hartley Mob; Hell's Kitchen Gang; Herbert Asbury;
Honeymoon Gang; Hook Gang; Hudson Dusters; Kerryonians; Lenox Avenue Gang; Molasses Gang; Plug Uglies; Roach Guards; Shirt Tails; Slaughter House Gang; Slobbery Jim; Swamp Angels; Tenth Avenue Gang; Tub of Blood Bunch; Westies; Whyos; Yonkers; Cherokee; Mohicans; NY Giants

What terrain set is that?

I made it by means of cut and paste. Most of it comes from the High Rise City overlay created by Pounder. The roads are by Juul and the pollution is by mrtn.

The rest is based off the European Terrain set that comes with the game.

Ooooohhh... I wan`t to play! :D

Maybe you could add the Skaven as the mutated sewer-people! :D

My mutants are sort of green looking, in fact they look a bit like orks. Okay, they are orcs but this means I get to use WH40k ork units (including Ork Trucks and Ork Bikes) and some other fan made orc units.

This looks set to become another Bobby Dazzler. I just wish I had more time to play all this stuff.

More strength to you King Arthur!

PS. Petroskoi ballbreakers is a winner, stick em in!

That's my problem too Rambuchan. I'm too busy modding to have time to play the actual game!

Well, it could be a ork-skaven alliance, surface mutants and underground ones :D If you are missing some units, that is :)
I have enough orc(k) units to fill out the mutant lines. But you've got me thinking...

Looks great. I take it this will be in the style of Zombie Island, with units representing individual characters and so on. But it looks like you're planning on giving this one more depth with a more involved tech tree. That should be great. I like tech trees!

I'll definitely be watching this one. Should be well worth the wait. Of all the scenarios I've been playing in the past few months (and that's not many, admittedly), the rejuvenated Zombie Island has definitely been the most absorbing and fun. One idea: there was a Zombie Island variant on a New York map. It might be fun to make versions of this new scenario on different maps too. Personally, I'd far rather play (say) Apocalypse London, since I don't know New York.

Oh, and my one piece of advice - crank up the mutants! Let's see lots of different kinds!

Apocalypse London would be fun and I may just do an add-on after all is said and done. Admittedly, I don't know either London or New York very well but they are both famous cities with lots of character.

You're right, it is same level of scale as Zombie Island - I feel it allows me to be more creative as it gives lots of options for improvements and characters.

If you have any ideas for techs please share them and I'll be able to fill out the tree even more. I'm now thinking of civ specific tech trees along the lines of Zombie Island.

And what do you mean by lots of different kinds - is that lots of different unit types within the one civ faction (quite appropriate I think) or do you mean lots of different mutant civs with their own unique style like Stromrage's suggestion of surface and underground mutants?

Different kinds - up to you, of course, depending on how you want to implement mutants. I just like the idea of having green-skinned mutants running around on the surface, rat-like mutants popping up out of the sewers, great big ogre-like mutants rampaging in from the wilderness outside, flying harpy-like mutants swooping down on people (stop me if this gets too Judge Dredd). The sky's the limit. You could have different mutant civs or just one very varied mutant civ - depends on how you want to do it, and how much you think the scenario should be "about" mutants or whether they should just be a fairly small element of it. But I think they would be fun!
