Okay Blue Monkey, now I'm looking forward to your Wonder Splashes. Are you going to do the icons too, or could you use help with that?

I have no experience with the wonder icons - have at it.

Here's a list of my current work queue for the tech icons & wonder splashes. "Done" is self-explanatory, WIPs are WIPS (the ones with my name are redoes of the old wonders), anything under possible images, a lot of the WIPs, or not on my list at all is free game for anyone - not at all stepping on my steel-toed work boots.

If this works for the Mars Foreign Office, then I'll index the palette.
The Lunar will be similar, but with a dark sky & Earth well in view.​

Balthasar PMed me that perhaps it was a little too yellow. I'm going to try a version with the sky paler, & the whole a bit desaturated. He also expressed the opinion that perhaps the Brits should be larger - what do you think?

I tend to prefer images "B" and "F" because of the texture; but is there any way that you can alter the attitude of the Embassy so that the door faces into the frame? I was always taught to try to have everything face into the frame if possible. I like the hint of color in that last one; in fact, if you changed the orientation of the embassy and added just a hint of texture to that one, it would probably be perfect.....

The orientation was a chosen just because it was easier to work with a ragged bottom where other elements of the photo was cropped, but that is entirely doable without excessive amounts of work.

I like the hint of color in that last one; in fact, if you changed the orientation of the embassy and added just a hint of texture to that one, it would probably be perfect.

The texture is added by a GIMP filter that is called "Old Photo". I'm pretty sure there is a setting that will not darken the photo so much - thus preserving the color you like. I can also try using that filter on a separate transparent layer to see if more of the color can be preserved & to control the texturing without losing the underlying image. Do you think it would look better with or without the image blurring, and also with or without the bordering?

Here's the best I can do - the titles refer to where the mottling has been applied. The darkening is an unavoidable artifact of the mottling process. These are both indexed. If one looks acceptable then I will start the same process on a Lunar version.

The only thing I know I could do differently is to swap the sky between the images. If I just try to lighten the second one I can't maintain a good look for the building & figures.

My choice also - I like the greater color variation. Here it is.

Updated buildings files posted in Downloads Database here. Fixes: fixed pallette on Railway Station Small ; added in Salon pcx that was inexplicably left out of the original. If you've already downloaded them all I've attached the fixed files to this post.

Needed to clear my head before I tackle the LFO, so I looked through the WIPs to see what I could bring to a nearly finished form in short order. Critiques & comments?

I love the background image. I think the lettering is a little hard to see against that background - putting it in french is an interesting touch.

edit: You might keep that color though, if you move the first 3 lines of the Title over to the left (the darker part of the picture) and let the "en 80 Jours" tail off to the right....

I'll try that. If it doesn't work, I've got just the bg in both sepia & b&w.
