Are polls, in the media, skewed?

well, polls often say:
Dem:50
Rep:50
5% margin of error
19 times out of 20
that means, that usually, the real poll is:
Dem:45-55
Rep:45-55
but, they could have hit a patch of democrats, so 1 time out of 20, it could be:
Dem:30
Rep:70
Dem:50
Rep:50

The media is left wing biased. It's not because they have an agenda or anything it is just because they are well educated people.
One thing that never sat well with me was the "popularity polls" for GWB after 9/11. The question was whether they supported the president. And the numbers were huge (like 80% or something). This was not a popularity poll. Just because you said you said you "support" the president doesn't neccessarily mean you like or would vote for him. And who wouldn't say they support the president after watching cnn for a week and being told how you have to support the president.
