are siege units overpowered?

This trebuchet was way overpowered because he had lots of promotions in it already so that's how he managed to beat him.

Has anyone noticed the strength 18 ballista with no 'must set-up to fire' requirement? Says so in the manual, which might be wrong. Regardless, strength 18 is superb when shielded by legions.

Getting all the promotion and great general bonuses possible can almost triple your damage.

Any unit with 130xp and great general around is going to be pretty broken.

From a defensive stand point I think they are pretty overpowered.

From a offensive standpoint they seem quite good but having to wait a turn to set up could be a significant drawback if enemy ranged units can fire over your front lines, dmging the siege unit before it gets a shot off. This could force the Siege into retreat early in offensive battles, forcing you to bring multiple siege units to reap the benefit of there power.

From a cost to power standpoint siege units are much more efficient than archers however. But they require a resource to make, so that equals things back out a bit.

It did seem a bit overpowered, considering we're all used to just suiciding trebs into a city, but I imagine the resource limitations will counter that.

greg was holding a choke point with bushido japanese samurai's. There was no way for napoleon to break through until he got the artillery. If greg were in an open area his trebuchet would have been flanked and destroyed
