Are some AI civs more random than others?

Judging by all the "I've had .... in my games" the appearance seems to be random. All the AI's names have come up, it seems. Remeber that randomness is, by definition, not an even distribution. Therefore, if you are seeing the same faces for several games in a row, that's a normal anomoly.
Understood that the sample sizes are too low to be definitive proof of anything...however, looking at the civs people have mentioned, there's clearly a trend for Mansa, Monty & JC.

Interesting point about the game choosing a "balance" of traits. Again it's proof of nothing, but I do find it curious how the one time I chose a true blue warmonger civ (HC) was the only time I drew the unholy trinity of Alex, Toku & Genghis.

Heh, I see monty a lot, but I rarely seem to see either Mansa or JC. Mind you I have seen them, but not very often. I am generally a fairly happy person when I see Mansa, but not JC.

Just me 2 cents.

Hm, I do see Mansa Musa in alot of my games. In fact, he was in my last game, starting right next to me on a pangea map. Unlucky for him, he started on a pennsula of sorts to my left and I quickly cut him off and persuaded him to let me have his cities.

I've seen quite a few different civs, but I will say that Monty haunts my steps in every damned gamed, next to Mansa and for some reason Louis, I have to tolerate his ugly mug in alot of games. Ghandi's peace-loving arse is usually there to whine and sick his zealots on you so he can build his little ships.

I tend to play financial civs mostly, at least a mix of them, differentiating between the various financial civs, leaning more toward inca, catherine, or washington.

The general theme for opposition in my games seems to be 'warmonger' and 'tech-mongers'. Granted those are totally different things and cover a broad range, but I rarely seem to end up with the other warmongers like the khans or Alex, always Monty(I'm telling you, he gets off on this stuff). I don't see alot of philisophical civs generally.. No Isabella, which is unlucky because in the one game I did play with her we had the same religion... (Throws Civil Service at Mansa), go fetch Isabella.
