I had another one a couple months was biking up a steep hill in Kitsilano. I passed some kid with a fancy biking outfit which a prominent logo which read "DEVO". I was about to make a comment to him, but stopped myself, realizing that he was far too young to have any concept of Devo.
Turned out to be a local biking club: Development and Escape VelOcity.
An elderly and conservative coworker mentioned that she really liked Devo and went to their concert. Turned out I was hearing wrong and she was speaking of Il Divo, a group with no sense of humour. They do not even wear plastic red planters for hats.
