Click on that link. That apparently has all the empires in the game at release. Now, I noticed something - Babylon is in, according to the list.

That alone doesn't really bother me. I'm however seriously, seriously disturbed by the possibility that the culture that pretty much defined Western Civilization is not included - GREECE.

When you think democracy - you think greece.
When you think philosophy - you think greece.
When you think an empire that conquered the known world - you think Macedon - represented by greece.
When you think drama - you think greece.
When you think some of the most impressive scientists/authors/cultural leaders of the ancient world - you often think greece.
Who defied Persia - the most powerful empire on earth during it's time - twice, preventing them from further conquests into Europe - greece
Whose language was used, alongside Latin, as a mark of learning and erudite thinking in Europe - the greeks.
Whose culture and religion, ideas and values have influenced much of Europe for thousands of years? - Greece.
Which peoples built five of the seven wonders of the ancient world(Temples of Zeus + Artemis, Masoleum of Mausellos, Collossos, Pharos) - the greeks.

I personally cannot think of many more peoples more more worthy of the title civilization, and a spot in this game, than the Greeks. Please dear God tell me that Firaxis included the greeks and our site is wrong... please.

That's only CivRules' analysis of the data. I don't think putting Babylone in is, at this time, justified, as the ONLY evidence of Babylon we've seen whatsoever is the presence of a single city named "Agade", a city controled by the same team which controled a city named "Cherokee" at the time, which is definitely NOT a babylonian city.

Chances are they have completed the city name list so they have to name each city as they found it. Or they added a generic list until its replaced I refer you to the new screens that show odd names to say the least. "Thecitythatgodforgot"

I started thinking along those lines... but I figured it bore a mention, because I may not have seen all the info, but for CivRules to put Babylon on the list, I assumed there was more evidence than just a city called Agade.

Wait... isn't Agade another way to say Akkad, home of the Akkadians? They would be a different civ from the Babylonians -

So... that means CivRules must be off in his analysis, unless I missed a source. Agade would be evidence of the Akkadians, and I doubt they are in the game. Minor civ perhaps? Sid only knows...

But at any rate, I hope Greece is still in. Maybe CivRules should take Babylon off the list, until we have solid firaxian evidence for the mystery civ.

Whoa... Thunderfall answered me!

Those are some good eyes you have there... I didn't even notice that flag! That really does favor greece as the mystery civ. Thanks!

Except, to be fair Akkad *IS* a babylonian city in Civ III

I think that the screenshot of the cities of Agade and Cherokee are the Civ IV equivalant of III's barbs. Perhaps there are minor civs, and they get cities in the game?
