As of now, which is your favorite Civ to play as, and your least favorite?

favorite: Vikings (discovering new places to settle early on sea before anyone else)

least favorite: Russia (should be strong and i`ve started many games with this nation but overall i find it not that great and i`ll rather play with a versatile civ like America. I would have liked the civ more if i could abandon founding a religion and expand)

So far me personally, my favorite is Poland. I maybe the minority but I love their abilities, just was a blast to play. Surprised more people haven't said them. After reading everyone else, I feel like I need to need to try Rome.

My least favorite civ is India, haven't been into his game style. But, ill be honest and I maybe the only one, but out of the new civs/leaders coming I am actually most excited to play as The new war India, I think their new abilities synergize well together playing aggressively.

Arabia by far. Faith, religion automatic, theocracy so I can faith-rush mamlukes, kill everything.

I like a ton of civs. My top is Russia though, for the same reason I liked the Shoshone in V. That land grab is just so satisfying...

Least favourite is less clear-cut. There are quite a few civs I dislike and pretty much never play as (except for achieves).

I'd say Spain is probably my least favourite at the moment. They require a religion and have interesting mechanics, but require too much micromanagement.

America is really boring and is in the running for least favourite. +5 CS on your continent for most of the game and nothing else. Their UU is crap even when it does arrive.

France would be on my least favourite list as well, but it looks like they're about to become way more interesting in R&F.

east favorite: Russia (should be strong

The land grab is pretty awesome, but the other abilities just don't interest me that much.

I generally do not like Poland. They are pretty far down my list. I've played them twice, but neither game was remarkable, they were pretty forgettable games.

Gorgo Greece is still very high on my list. Don't care for Pericles though. Getting suzerains isn't exactly easy until near the end. At least from the way I play.
Macedon is right up there with Gorgo. Massively powerful, if not the most overpowered civ in the game.
I did mention Persia earlier in this thread, but I haven't actually played them since last summer. They've fallen from down a few notches.
Rome: Powerful nearly any way you want to play them. A universal favorite.

Least favorites: Poland, Spain, India, Brazil, France, Egypt.

I usually play for the victory type the Civ is most suitable. So far I have won as Saladin, Pericles, Montezuma, Harald, Peter, Qin, Barbarossa and Memba Bazinga. Now I'm more interested in games that I just play and go with the flow.

Sorry for kind of odftopic but my main question is: What/who would be THE Civ for me?
I usually like early/mid game most, I like having a religion but it isn't a must and I'm not that into theological combat. I'm not a warmonger and rarely even build Encampments, same goes for Theathers as well for some reason. I do like wonders (mostly earlier era, always build atleast 1 from Ancient 1 and from Classical Era). I like my Civs more tall than wide and rarely settle other continents or islands.

Sorry for bit messy info.

My favorite civs to play as are Babylon, Carthage, Byzantium and the Celts.

So I'm just a bit frustrated as you might expect.

Russia’s Lavras also provide GWAM points, allowing you to hoard early Great Writers with ease. Later on you can use all that faith on National Parks and GP purchases. Despite all that faith generation, Russia is actually very comfortable with NOT pursuing religious victory - just think of faith as alternative currency.

Yep... when I see people complain Russia is not versatile enough, I'm stunned. They're probably the most versatile civ in the game.

Try India, you can go China (rushing Stonehenge) or peaceful Indonesia too (I would suggest a cultural victory for both)

Koala is the best to play as cause he's got the best music, but he's also the worst to play as because you won't be able to open the diplomacy screen and hear that koala music right away.

I think my most memorable games were as Russia, Kongo and Nubia. (I only own the Nubia and as of yesterday the Poland DLC civs so I can't speak to most of them.) Runner up: Greece's wild card slot may not be game-changing, but it makes government so much more flexible and fun. If only their leader abilities weren't so underwhelming.

I can't say that I have a favorite though-- I haven't yet beat the game with every leader and so don't have a lot of in-depth experience with any particular civ.

Top 3 that have been the most interesting and fun to play as:

Indonesia for their coastal synergy
Japan for their district adjacencies and city planning
France for their early spies and stealing your way to victory

Bottom 3 that I like on paper, but I haven’t gotten to work in practice:
Pericles and his city states
Spain as a faith driven crusader
Khmer as a builder

I’m really looking forward to Holland in R&F for those floating bombards and for polders

I've played as every civ/leader now except Australia, which I have disabled.

Favorites: Persia, Poland, Russia, France
Least Favorites: England, India, Macedon, Brazil

Favorite: Norway and Indonesia in an island map are so much fun. I also like England for the extra trade routes. I'm not very good at the cultural game so Gorgo's cultural kills are awesome. And Australia for their adjacency bonuses and theme.

I used to dislike France but after the buff to their spies, it is actually very entertaining to play them
Germany, Persia, Aztecs, and Rome are also fun to play.

My least favorite Civs are Gandhi's India (I find their abilities very boring) and Egypt.

Besides Portugal :p my fav is kongo

Less fav: indonesia

Why Indonesia is your least favourite? I find them fun to play as.

Since Kongo is his favorite I'm guessing he's not a big fan of playing the religion game :p

I don't really play Indonesia religiously, I like spamming their Kampungs after conquering other Civs with my mostly faith bought navy. :p
