Ashes of Erebus (RifE's Follow-up) Download and Bug Reports

Personality Cult is only making her agnostic, so the real question is whether both deathtouched and haunted are too much together or not. I don't think so, since deathtouched feels relatively weak by itself.

Another CIV ranking, this time the Chislev.

Civilization: Chislev

Known bugs:
Chislev have special religious buildings/totems that replace the temples of the relgions and there is a bug, that you can ´t build novice units as they for example need a temple of kilmorph and are not available to totems (reported and maybe already solved).

Introduction:
The chislev are a indian tribe civ, relgions are available and the relgious buildings are replaced by totems that give units or the city itself some bonis. Their start leaders have not that good traits, Absaroke is raider/defensive and Natane organized/defensive, the council is nice from RPG view and gets bonis via a point system when satisfy the tribes, for example build buildings/wonder for bear clan etc. As it needs time to get the point system running, you start with 0 traits in the beginning what is pretty bad but might be a challenge for players that are looking for some new challenge.
I would pick Natane over the other start leaders, because organized is always nice to have, Raider is only good in war. There is a special government "law of tribe" form that makes it cheaper to have many cities and allow election for special tribe-leaders with different traits and 4 national menawi units that are similar to champions but faster available, also menawi can pick a tribe and get some special bonis, I prefered snake tribe as it has sharpshoter and chance to capture units promotion, they at are only available to that government form, the diasadvantage beside it is not godking is, that you lose -5% science and -5% money but I think it ´s worth it as you get enough money and science from the many cities you got anyway, to compensate it .It ´s something different then the normal godking game, so I really appreciate it.
So, summed up chislev are a good civ for expandation empires and a supremacy or domination victory. They have some special units, beautiful art and their worldspell that allows to summom some extra units isn ´t that bad too. Their hero unit is a bit weak in strenght but has the ability to cast rage on unit stacks, so it ´s more a support/caster unit. An important special unit is the great commander, as it has 6 strenghts and not the normal 0/5 , so it can take part in the fights itself, so declaring an early war might bring early and strong commander units with 6 strenght and stack promotions, what is decent in early game . Also to note, with their Tomahawk Thrower unit that replaces axemen, is a bit stronger, so chislev are good for early rushes.
Strength and weak points:
They get later access to prophets so religious victory and spreading religion might be more difficult, also they miss some science buildings. They are quick builders and have a varity of special units, they are made for war and expandation but a more defensive playstyle is also possible. As their special units are more melee they tend to go the metal/melee tech line, I would recommend it the second best line after scoutline, so it ´s not so bad. Due to their will to expand, science and money might become a problem though, therefore...

Religion:
... I would recommend to rush Kilmorph religion as you want your good melee units as fast as possible anyway. Leaf is a nice religion too, but a rising big empire needs money and Kilmorph might be the best fitting for Chislev. Ofc you can pick any religion though, chislev are not really dependent from religion and their units, but Kilmorph also brings earth mana that is nice to find new ressources and if lucky you find some metal too for your melee units.

Conclusion:
I underestimated the chislev a bit as I used to play them in FFH2 vanilla where they missed something, with the changes they got over time, they are now a well balanced civ that is worth to play.

Ranking:
I rank Chislev as A-, the late access to prophets and minor debuff to science is a little downgrade, also I ´m a bit unsure if an indian themed civ shouldn´t be better suited for nature and Leaf religion over money and kilmorph, ofc you can play it that way too, but their units and setup is better suited for melee & kilmorph and a big empire. That being said it ´s a very powerful Civ to play though and offers much oportunity. Open youtube, pick random indian music, turn the world into a big tribe and never look back.

Ideas for Improvement:
-They are good and strong as they are. There might be a consideration to allow chislev to build city states, or turn barbarian cities into these city states, which are played by the special chislev tribe leaders as AI, but I think it would be overpowered so in my opinion no changes needed.

hey, just wanted to say, this is looking pretty good nowadays. a lot better than the state rife was in 15 years ago.

i have a problem of my own making. i accidentally chose the high to low challenge in my victory conditions at the start, and can't seem to find a way to get rid of it. game save editors all obsolete and there doesn't seem to be anything of the like in world builder. anyone got an idea how to salvage the save without losing an hour of playing time

If you open the worldbuilder file in a notes application, the first few lines will be the game options. Delete the one related to High and Low, and save the file as a .CivBeyondSwordWBSave. Then you can open it again in the in game tool.

Note that I did this recently and found that the way AoE records experience fractionally leads to errors in a WBsave. So be prepared for units with hundreds or thousands of xp.

Alternatively, you can turn on debug mode (Game Options->Debug mode on). With this option, you can cycle through the leaders with (I believe) Alt-Z (possibly Ctrl-/ Shift-Alt Z), until you reach your leader. An unfortunate byproduct is that this may leave you playing at the difficulty option the AI was on, which is generally Noble.

thanks, i'm quite happy with the progress we've made in the last couple of years especially.

that shouldn't matter. Can you screenshot the errors ?
The attached messages all show up (as well as some others) when the game is started

The game loads, but trying to open the Civilopedia results in an error message saying "Failed to load python module CvScreensInterface" and another message with a Traceback error leading to "AttributeError: typeObject CvPythonExtensions.CivilopediaPageTypes has no attribute CIVILOPEDIA_PAGE_SPELL".

I think some files are missing in the download.

yeah, either that or a folder is misplaced, but you would have more problems than that in that case. Let's try this one :
(it's an alternate link i've set up )

I tried this one. It worked once, but after I quit and restarted the game it started popping up with exceptions again. Deleting and replacing the files didn't help.
