Asian Mod

Asoka's pre-Buddhist period seems to describe most rulers of that general era - including Hindus and Buddhists alike. :)

 right, but if you haven't read about this guy, you really should. What's amazing is the change he made after he converted to Buddhism. Really, unbelievable.

China now how navigable rivers.
The "Indian" civ is now named Bharata

I am going to try to implement Civinator's multiple leaders for each era idea. So that means more leader heads. I've already got some to preview, but I'm going to wait until I have more ;)

Some new wonders too:
Kofun (Japanese Specific), Pyramid, Dolmen (Korean Specific) Great Buddhist Monastery (mini wonder)

I also seem to have missed Ogedei's great building sets. So I will have to look through those and see what can be used. There's a lot of good stuff in there.
I am also still looking for some wonder ideas.

Thank you Kyraikos

@ Bengal Tiger, yes Russia is on the map. But the AI will not be able to expand or send out units until the late Middle Ages. They will also not be selectable for a human player. But I think some easy modding skills can fix it.

Hi, long time no see.

I have some good ideas about new civilizations, the civilizations mentioned below had a long history, unique culture and perpetual sustainability.

Also Religions:
I'd like to have some crusader units for the civs, and maybe even some civ or culture specific crusader units for each religion.

Islam India
Islam SE Asia
Islam Central Asia
Hinduism India
Hinduism SE Asia
Buddhism SE Asia

Right now I will make Sohei, and Shaolin Monk

Here is an image that you may consider...
Prevailing_world_religions_map.png

There are four main types of Buddism, and Tibetian Buddism is a category of Vajrayana Buddism.

I doubt that should Islam India and Islam Central Asia be merged into one, as they seemed to be influenced by Islam in Persia.

P.S. Great improvements are seen in your leaderheads, looking forward to your new creations.

Those are interesting buildings, but could you put them in spoilers.

My civs are more generic and based on region or race instead of specific dynasties. Since if you take a specific civ you control that culture and its evolution throughout history. Since the mod starts in the bronze age, I would be strange to have 15th century cultures there.

On religion, I've broken down crusader units by culture instead of sect. I believe all forms of Japanese Buddhism are Mahayana Buddhism, but there was nothing visually like the Yamabushi or Sohei in Korea or China. Same with I assume the other sects. I would like to have a Buddhist crusader for Tibet, China, Japan, SE Asia. And I have an idea for all of those except SE Asia. I guess India also needs a Buddhist Crusader unit.
The same goes for Islam. But maybe all of Islamic crusader units as either Turkic or Persian mercenaries.

Just a random thought: How about making a wonder only available to the Phillipines(or requiring a resource located only under Manila) as well as a "Christian" government available in the 1500s that autoproduces conquistadores or something to that effect. Just to make it more interesting for the Phillipines.

Right, I get your idea.

How about in this method...

Proposed candidate:

Tamil Nadu
Shu
Huns/Xiongnu

Well, I think that these civilizations met your criteria!? It is wished that you may consider...

Xiongnu are the ancient units for the Mongols and Turks. If they were their own civ I would have trouble finding UUs and Leader heads for their Medieval, Industrial and Modern eras since they evolved into Mongols and Turks.

Shu is the same problem, I haven't decided if Southern China will get a civ yet, but the name should be less specific.

Tamil are apart of Dravida (the civ for Southern India), they were discussed already, but I didn't add them to the front page, I will update
that.

Map on front page is updated

Are you wanting ideas for units to make or are existing ones okay? If the latter - Vietnamese double-crossbow elephant comes to mind. And the elephant fusilier or Maratha cavalry for Islamic era India. We should probably get you what you need to continue work on the ratha. That would make a perfect Hindu/Buddhist era crusader for India.

"Vajrayana" itself is a slippery term; if you've talked to a Tibetan Buddhist personally, you might notice that they won't call it explicitly "Vajrayana" but rather a form of "Mahayana." Even the divisions of "Mahayana" and "Theravada" categories are problematic and ultimately essentialist.

By the way, Shirou, I'll be continuing that Heian Buildings pack over the weekend; kind of busy at the moment with PhD coursework.

I'll look for a name for that Indian. If it's for the ancient era there's likely a brahmin that was a regional leader. Seeing that he's a Vaisnavite narrows down the search. If nothing else there will be a number of historically important "power behind the throne" possibilities. Court Brahmins often controlled policy during a young prince's regency.

How much work would it be to make a version of him as an advisor? Is that something that be done from the LH pcx/flics later? Even if it's a lot of work there are ones of yours & others I'd like to convert.

I checked wikipedia as a quick pointer for where to look in the book collection. According to it the Pallava rulers claimed to be descendants of brahmakshatryas - brahmins who became warriors. Assuming that's true any early Pallava would do for a name.

The tilaka is actually a nice touch. Please keep it. It is distinctive & makes him immediately identifiable as South Asian.

When you do LHs could the same model be used for a unit? It would be amazing to have matching sets of LH + King/GL units. If anyone is capable of it you're the one.

My attempt at Ashoka based off Mauryan statues.

@ Blue Monkey, it would be difficult to make the heads into units, a lot of the props and clothes only look good at the frame's angle, and I would have to mess with animations and the size of character.
