Have either of you heard the song "Lover of the Bayou" by Mudcrutch (Petty's original group)? It's a cover of a Byrds song and is one of my favourite covers.

Funny story.
The Don CeSar is actually located on St. Pete Beach.

It is quite a landmark around here. It was built in 1928 when you still needed a boat to get there from St. Pete. For decades, it was the first thing boaters in the Gulf Of Mexico would see as they approached land, and it has always been painted that shade of pink. It was particularly famous just after it opened. The Yankees used it as their base for Spring traning for 3 years during the depression. It was bought by the Army during WWII and turned into a convalescent hospital. Then it became a VA administration center. When the VA finally moved out to a more central location, it was almost demolished. But a local hotel owner finally bought it and turned it back into a hotel.
And for you Tom Petty fans, he made a music video there in 1985.
What about it do you like as a cover that betters the original?
I remember during the SuperBowl, waiting for the halftime... "I DONT CARE ABOUT THESE STUPID FOOTBALL GUYS, HURRY UP AND GET TO THE GOOD STUFF!!!!!" Because they had the little clock ticking down but they would stop farrrrrrr too often to rewind the tape and it was an exercise in frustration for me.
