Right now, #AskHamas is going so terribly that you have to wonder if someone was seeking to discredit Hamas. However, the campaign appeared to have been retweeted by Hamas's Arabic language account and some high-profile members of Hamas, as well as featured in a number of Palestinian news outlets. There have been no denials issued from Hamas at the time of writing.

If real, the hashtag appeared to be aimed at changing the minds of the group's skeptics. "The campaign is aimed at rejecting the labeling of the Palestinian resistance as 'terrorists,'" Taher al-Nounou, Hamas media coordinator, said Thursday, according to comments carried in the Turkish press. Hamas is considered a terrorist organization by the United States, the European Union and Israel.

#AskHamas may face some difficulty, but it looks like Hamas is really taking some steps further into the social media battle against Israel, which already has a slick and well-publicized Facebook and Twitter strategy. And, given the first tweet on @HamasInfoEn, Hamas understands the risks.

So far it looks like it has been an abject failure since even before it was meant to start the hashtag was being used to ask them about things they wouldn't want to have asked.

EDIT. If you must ask them a question, just use #Hamas and not #AskHamas since those dirty Zionists ruined the previous hashtag.

Too bad there isn't an actual Hamas fighter here on CFC. Any 'Ask a Hamas member' thread would have been a blast!

My oldest uncle probably fought 'em when he was an officer in the South Vietnamese army, that close enough?

I guess not.

Then again, South Vietnam was best Vietnam! Anti-Communism FTW!

Considering most of the states in the world could fit under that definition, yes.

(except for Cuba, which heaven on Earth.)

Most states see Buddhist monks burning themselves in protest? Mmmm...

(Oh, yes Cuba is heaven on earth.)

Well, to be fair, I've found self-immolation as a showy, but self-defeating measure. If you wanna stick it to the man, fight on.

(Where the ladies dance cha-cha-cha and all is good under the benevolent glare of our glorious leader..la-la-laa)

'Truth from the mouth of the horse.'

What.
