For the 1770s, the outfit is really out of place.

It's a very odd costume. Might look better in motion.

So... The british are templars? I guess the Catholic church was getting boring so might as well expand to the Anglican right?
You know, I liked this game because it showed me things I'd never properly seen before (or in that time period), emulating a bit of holiday sentiment, even though ACB was pure filler at least Rome was a nice city.
American architecture, especially during this period was rather plain, American architecture has always been more about size then elegance, I fail to see how these little wooden towns would be even remotely interesting to see.
And having seen sets like this in the tons of movies centered on this period doesn't help either.
Also wasnt the whole point of the assassin getup to emulate monks? You know those hooded bastards that where a normal daily sighting UNTIL the renaissance?
Adam Sandler °3 just looks like an idiot in this setting.

I remember at the end of AC1 they drop hints about Japan, boy would that have been boring, RIGHT?

I find it really odd that an organisation dedicated to working in the shadows would keep wearing outdated clothes.....

I hope there will, at the least, be an option to change appearences. If not I would be one disappointed fan...

Despite my lack of trust, I don't really think they will make it completely black and white (or red and blue as the case may be). I suspect there will be Templars and Assassins on both sides (especially since the revolution was a civil war).

I don't think the British are Templars. It's far too simple for that for that to be the case. It could be a group of individuals within the British Government that wants the colonies to remain colonies, like how Rodrigo Borgia and his cronies were in the Roman Catholic Church.

I'm really afraid that this will glorify the American Revolution and that it will be a very lop-sided view of history. If Ubisoft is brave, and wants to be interesting, they should keep the Assassin's in the middle as they possibly can. Perhaps even, abandon both sides for neutrality eventually. Given that Connor is part native American and that the native Americans mostly sided with the British during the war. Of course, many Americans will not take kindly to have to 'betray' their country and be outrage and the possibility of tainting the image of Saint Washington.

Much like how a lot of people could not wrap their heads around helping the 'evil genocidal' Ottomans instead of the Byzantines in Revelations.

I wasn't asserting ofcourse that every Brits a Templar, not every Catholic was a Templar either, but I do suspect the Templars to be far more numerous there and heavily stereotyped, much like how in AC1 the Christians where all massively evil, anyone remember the medieval Mengele-priest? I'm guessing because they where too scared to make the Muslims look as depraved as them for fear of 'Criticism from the arabic world'.

And even then they still have to start every game saying "This game was made by a team of different religious and ethnic persuasions", why would you even have to say this unless you where making an openly discriminating game, I don't see such weird openings if I start up Crusader Kings 2.

The only interesting angle I can see them take with this game though is probably via the banks, as the Knights Templar eventually went into banking and the Americans where revolting against the high British taxation, enforced by the banks, perhaps it could actually teach people something about the nefarious practices the European superbanks where involved in during that period (ofcourse these superbanks where historically run by Jews, but I think it should'nt be too hard to retcon them into Templars).

But yeah odds are that we'll just get a lot of pro-American bs.

And calling the Ottomans evil and genocidal might be true, but can also be said about most countries (especially the big ones) during that troubled time, from what I played of Revelations I had no problems with the Ottomans, historically they're quite fascinating, because the game around it was so poorly designed though that killing the Janissary leader was the last thing I did, it's still sitting on my HD collecting dust but my last memories of playing where of such extreme boredom I'm not inclined to fire it up any time soon.

Although I blame the main character for this as well, Altair had no personality to speak of, Ezio was interesting but after Brotherhood his shtick was getting old and Miles is one of the most oblivious and standard protagonists I've had the misfortune of playing as.

I love the AC series. got all the main games, the comic book series, the 4 novels, and a courtesan hoodie :p bought the codex edition for brotherhood and the animus edition for revelations.

Im having great fun with the MP of revelations. on pc, this weekend its double XP-weekend :p (so if any MP pc players, drop me a message and i'll add you)

anyone played the lost archive dlc?

I'm waiting until it drops to $1 or $2. No way am I paying $10 for that little content, especially when the gameplay amounts to "walk from here to there". Desmond's levels didn't tell us anything we didn't already know.

And just to make sure they have completely alienated PC users:

“We’re definitely supporting PC, we love PC, but I think it’ll be PC with a controller. I don’t see us investing hugely in a mouse and keyboard setup. I think if you want to play on PC and you want to play Assassin’s Creed, you have a controller.”

YOU DON'T LOVE PC, STOP LYING TO US YOU CHEATING BASTARDS.

EDIT: And so much for Ubisoft's press release last week saying that they intended to make PC games so good they won't be worth pirating.

You play with a keyboard?

Playing Assassin's Creed with a keyboard would be comparable to a man with no arms driving an 18 wheeler truck round a cliffside track while blindfolded. Utterly stupid.

I can't see it work either... The subtlety you need sometimes to reach something.. can you get that with a keyboard?

Yes, you can. I played both AC1 and AC2 with a keyboard and it was a lot more fun than when I played it on my friend's console. At least it was in AC2, I haven't played AC1 in years. The controls aren't perfect, but it is certainly playable. I found Just Cause 2 to be a lot more awkward with the mouse. If you are very familiar with a controller and use one regularly you will probably prefer it regardless, but for those who aren't K&M worked well enough. Although it would help if Ubisoft could have been bothered to do a good job of porting them instead of 'good enough'.

exactly. a gamepad isnt expensive, and you can use it for other games as well. i would go nuts if i had to play AC with keyboard, especially the multiplayer part

Also, the different editions have been announced:

This clearly means I am utterly amazing with my keyboard and mouse, perhaps a god of some sort.

strikes a pose in a beam of light

Since if playing AC2 (haven't played and don't care about Brohood or Rev) with a K&M is as impossible as you say it is then a mere mortal would give up pretty quickly.

Everything can be learned but its stupid. I played through MGS2 on a keyboard and it was the most miserable experience of my life. No way you could do an EE run on it.

I like AC's keyboard bindings. I jumped back into Revelations the other day with no learning curve. :smug:
