My rating has just dropped by 200 or so. I was registered for two different county groups in England - Lancashire where I grew up and learned my chess - and Yorkshire where I live. Since a national intercounty championshipis about to start I was asked to declare my loyalty and being a Lanky at heart , I withdrew from the Yorkshire team and resigned all my games in their championship. Some players got a nice rating boost!

There ought to be some way to cancel unplayed games without affecting ratings.

I wondered where the ratings hit came from. Didn't think you'd actually lost enough games to change it that much.

I'd recommend posting that in the chess.com community forum. Games lost on time on move 1 don't count, so why should unplayed games?

The higher you are the harder you fall. I lost 70 points after losing to a 1600.

I started a new team match in the spirit of since we've actually been the overdog in most of our recent matches (except Lit Match).

Just curious, what's the significance of 1812? Most of the time we see 1800 or 1900

That war was fought between Britain and the USA. Canada fought hard to keep the Yankees out. We were not interested in becoming American back then, and we still are not interested.

In other news, I go for my appointment with the sub-specialist today. It's going to be 2.5 hours long, and I'll appreciate all the prayers of you guys. This appointment determines what happens next, and if any (if at all) sight I can recover.
