Assorted N.P. Team News

Currently I'm paired with him, but the match hasn't started so I may get bumped. I'm really hoping to play him, because I'd love to take him on head to head in the chat window: I have ZERO TOLERANCE for that specific sort of trash talking in this day and age. Especially from someone who lives in my part of the globe... if he were from a completely different area and culture, I'd give him the benefit of the doubt. But, sadly, in this case, I'm all too familiar with that sort of idiocy. It was all I could do to refrain from calling him out in the public thread...

Sorry, but I think I'm facing him. :p I'll do my best to whoop him for you.

Good luck MW. :D

In other news a majority of players (not necessarily from CFC) voted for a piece sac in this game and so far the only one with anything to say about how to proceed from here is Sashie (and myself) who was away during the vote. :undecide:

Anyone remember in Civ II how, once you reached a critical mass of cities, every additional city would have a chance of an additional unhappy citizen? Seems like every additional vote game we have going beyond four we have a 50% chance of saccing a piece for unclear compensation. :crazyeye:

My opponent in the 'Lit Match' is on vacation again. I'm getting annoyed at him for taking so much vacation time.

He did a few more moves, and then went on vacation again! Can he keep doing this?

Eventually he'll run out of vacation time & then maybe you'll win your match on time! :king:

(I would  to beat those Power of Chess guys!! :D)

Hang in there!

I'm hoping he stays away from his computer for the next 16 hours...

BTW, are you alowed to ask for help if you're stuck?

Looks like he either ran out of vacation time, or decided to come back from vacation again. I hope he runs out of time this time!

Any team matches opening up? Only got 2 games running at the moment, so I'd have time for some more.
I will accept any new challenges received with you in mind. :)

I'm in a tourney match with a guy over 1700! I'm gonna die!
Nah, not necessarily. 1700's (on chess.com) often blunder. Don't ever underestimate your opponent but don't overestimate him either. Play your best & look for opportunities!

I won my first game in the 666 team match.

I've pretty pleased with it. :) A decent example of how black can going wrong playing passively in the sicilian.

15. ... 0-0 by black seems strange, just dropping the piece like that but I guess he wanted to make sure he maintained the right to castle, he had a lot of opportunity to go wrong taking back. For example : 15. Nxd5 Nxd5? 16. Bxd7+! Kxd7 17. Qb5# if 15. ... exd5 16. Bxd7+ Nxd7 (Kxd7 leads to mate) 17. Qxd5 and black cannot castle without losing the knight nor bring the queen to c7, c8 or d8 to protect. Maybe castling was the best move, either way the game was over shortly. Analysis on how I could have won faster welcome.

In my second game against paquitodiaz I'm not doing quite as well but still think I have good chances. Both my games against mydarlingron (Checkmate!) are going fairly well (he played a fairly dubious opening as black which I feel I failed to fully capitalize on) but I've been playing too fast & not always in the best state of mind in all my games so I'm going to slow down so I don't make any critical errors (ideally!).

My rating is at an all time high but I'm about to lose to col (our col, colinf not chess.com's Col) which will bring me down a bit.

Hmm - maybe - I'm the exchange up but you undoubtedly have compensation.

That's for your vote of faith. :D I don't think I'm going to make any moves tonight, I'll see what I can muster up tomorrow!

I'm afraid I'm gonna lose this game. Just lost my knight to his queen, and a check to boot. :(
