The Newbie Nightmare
It seems that a lot of modders are choosing to upload their files to external hosts, such as RapidShare, MegaUpload, FileFactory, etc.
YOU DO NOT NEED TO DO THIS!
I draw your attention to the CivFanatics File Upload Guide. Basically, it breaks down to the following:
Using external hosts is a pain for many people. When you have to register on a site, when you can only download so many megabytes in an hour, etc. is a real drag for someone who wants to download your mod. I'm sure that you want lots of people to play your mod. But if it's a pain to download it, many people simply won't bother. So make it easier for the prospective player, and use one of the methods above to host your mod.
Thank you and good night

I draw your attention to the CivFanatics File Upload Guide. Basically, it breaks down to the following:
- you can upload files via the post attachment feature (filesize limit is 500 KB)
- if your file is bigger, you can upload it using the CFC Easy Upload feature. A link to this can be found under 'Quick Links' at the top of the page and at the bottomg of the page (filesize limit is 5 MB)
- if your file is bigger still (and many are, which i think has lead to people using external hosts), you have 2 options:
- FTP Access: if you PM Thunderfall he can set you up with a temporary FTP account where you can upload a file up to 100 MB. This should be sufficient for most needs.
- If your file is even bigger than that, you can upload your file to 3D Downloads. The filesize here is 500 MB.
