Please sell your game on ebay and let those of us who enjoy the game make better use of this forum. You are clogging up the forum and causing good threads to get bumped down due to your constant complaining.

As for me, the game has worked almost flawlessly. I have had 3 CTD's, but that is pretty much normal for a game of this caliber and I am sure the patch will fix it. I am running the game on a P4 2.93 ghz, 1 gig of DDR, ATi Radeon 9800xt 256mb.
Oh yeah, please stop whining about the patch, it will come when it is ready.

On another note, I would have to say that my favorite civilization is either America or the Germans. I love crushing the French and for some reason the Spanish always seem to hate me.
I am going to try the mod that adds some civs and see how that works out, but I am anxiously awaiting some more mods.

Oh, this may be in the bug thread, but has anyone noticed that if you form a Permanent alliance, your allies positive/negative feelings change? I had about a +20 with Saladin and we entered into an alliance and it went down to +2 as it eliminated my positives for mutual struggle, defense pact, open borders, etc. Is this a know bug?

Ah, so if your copy works, that's all that really matters eh? Jolly good show!

Oh, and you're also causing "good threads to get bumped down" due to your complaint about complainers.

/mine works fine now that I have new drivers. omegadrivers ftw!!!!111oneone

I agree that the bickering (that's habitually taking place in forums after the release of games with high expectations) is pointless. I also think that if someone *really* dislikes the game, selling it at eBay is a good alternative. In the end you'd probably lose some time and money, but this is a risk that we all take when we buy a game, or a book, or visit the cinema. It's certainly frustrating if things don't work out as expected, but it's not worth wasting too much time worrying about it either.

However, the people who are frustrated have the same rights to voice their opinions here as we do, so I'd just wait until the initial disappointment phase wears out - which it certainly will, given the overall quality of the game. Also, opening a new thread for saying that other threads are clogging up the forum somewhat defeats its own purpose, doesn't it? ;)

Bog off. I paid my money for this game and I want it to work. Go and be a fan-boy elsewhere.

Nah, I don't think I will "bog off" (whatever that means) just yet.

Sure, you have a right to complain, but the CONSTANT complaining over the same things is what I am referring to. Get a grip, the game works great for the vast majority of us.. We are all painfully aware that some of you are having problems and you are just going to have to live with it until the patch. :)

OK, everyone who has bad information concerning the game and want to tell others that it isnt running and buying it has upset you, quit telling people about it. It isnt like people come on here and ask 'Should I buy Civ 4?' on here as much as people complain.
Lets only have the people that bought the game and had it work be here to tell those people 'Buy it, I love it'

LOL that was all sarcasm btw.
WTH man. How are people that come on here for opinions concerning the game suppose to see negative feedback? You should work for Take 2 Shaggy. You are good at ignoring people with problems.:p

EDIT: Nvm you obviously dont know how to ignore them because of this thread. You should work for Microsoft. And just tell unlucky people 'oh well, stop bothering me!!'

You sure whine for nothing. Looking over the front page there appears to be 3 posts that might be construed as "whining". Two of them appear related to the technical side of things and one is gameplay related. Now this might seem like a lot if you have the number of threads viewable at one time set to 10 and a desktop resolution of like 640x480, but to me it's not many and if I don't care to read them they are easy to skip (and takes less time than posting about it). I doubt this is unique since I never even touched the default view settings for this forum.

So you are saying there are no bugs, no problems at all?

Yes, I agree 100%. It's kind of sad to know that all those complaining threads are the ones being seen by the people who may be at the forum for the first time and it may discourage them from buying the game...

You say we should sell it on E-bay? Where we will lose a significant percentage of its purchase price? Why should we have to lose money on a game that won't even work.

Because Shaggyofwv says so. You guys that can't get the game to work and post about it had better listen or Shaggyofwv's going to end up spamming again :P

You know I was worried that I was going to have a lot of headachs when I got my game the delivery date was to be Nov 9th. So when it came on Monday the 7th, I put it in and behold it works with no problems. My audio on the opening movie is jumpy but other than that it works. Lets everybody remember that there a a billion different ways to set up your computer so the developers won't ever catch all the bugs.

Shaggyofwv - your comments demanding that people stop complaining are most unwelcome. This is not your forum. You have not paid for it. You are not the king. If you don't like it here, by all means, find a new forum.
If people have valid complaints, they can and should post them. Also note that it is not your job to determine whether or not their complaints are valid.

The world does not revolve around you.

If they're discouraged from buying the game then its for a very good reason. Since they didn't live up to the expectations of civ 4, why should they reap all the profit? Aside for simplifying a few features and going to 3D (with 3-4 year old graphics anyway) the game has remained largely unchanged. So i think people have a right to go to a forum and get good accurate information, not the crap that the company writes on the back of the box. Good games do NOT have this many complaints. There are some serious problems here, both with crappy programming and with the gameplay itself and as much as the fanboys would like to dismiss it you can't just do that. The fact is that the game does feel rushed, and though some people may not experience serious issues because of luck, they're just not very observant if they think it's perfect as is. And why do you think the patch isn't out? Because they've already got your money and are spending most of their efforts to add 3 new units, 1 terrain type, and 2 techs and sell it for $40 under the guise of the biggest ripoff in the industry, an "expansion pack". *sigh*

This whole thread is feedling the Troll. :-(

Okay, so put the cards on the table: How much would you actually lose by selling your game on ebay?

I don't have an account on eBay US, but just checked the prices for eBay Germany. I could sell my copy of the game for anything between 25 and 45 Euro. Given that I paid 35 Euro for it in the first place, I think I should've bought several copies specifically to sell them at eBay. Instead of "losing a signoificant percentage", I'd win up to 10 Euro per copy!

As I said, I didn't check the prices at ebay US, but it's common for a newly released game to sell at higher prices as in retail. This is due to the structure of the eBay system, which favors the seller. If someone really disliked the game and had no hopes that any patch could fix that, selling it would be far more efficient than venting his/her frustration in forums. That's not saying that people shouldn't do that - it's understandable, a couple of people *do* have problems which shouldn't have been there, and it's a cycle most games go through, especially ones which had high expectations associated with them. But it might make sense to think a minute about what one really wants - relief by venting, or getting his money back. I'd choose the latter. :)

Nor does it revolve around you. He's got a valid point, no one wants to hear whiney complaints.
