Audio Quotes

Tried architecture quote with the ding and with a new technique that cut down on the static a little bit, I also inserted the ding into the ballooning, falconry, plough quotes.

I find I have a slight lisp, or have trouble with words that have too many s's. Normally it doesn't bother me and is not that noticeable but with the mic it sounds pretty bad. So certain quotes i'd prefer someone else did them.

If Architecture sounds ok, and now that i've got the hang of it, I can do most of the rest if you want, just a matter of finding time, its fairly easy though.

I can just let you know which of the quotes i'd prefer not to do (too many s's, or don't agree with my accent perhaps )

Its ok, no biggy, something is better than nothing, only thing, did you turn down the volume when you used the recording, i have it at 100 percent and its still a little faint of hearing?? I just tried Architecture and cant hear it at all???(Just wondering)

But my accent is West Country UK which is the same as the islands off the east coast of the USofA. However I was just thinking it may be good to have all the modders represented.

So I have been been watching the C2C LPs from Reeve x, thelastbeluga, GrimithR and Takuma on YouTube and many of them listen to the tech quotes or even read them if there is no audio. And one thing I have found is this ...

1. Pretty much everyone gets annoyed by AstralPhaser's audio quotes. He is hard to understand and some of the words are even wrong such as the "complaining" brooks.

2. Our tech quotes are way, way, WAY tooo long. Some are 2 paragraphs. That's not cool. it should be one sentence. A short one if you can.

3. The Sid's Tips should NOT be a wikipedia quote. its for a tip, not a pedia description. Some of these tips are poorly formatted too and go on forever!!

In short I like AstralPHaser but his Audio quotes should go. All they are doing is making it painful to listen too. And any tech quote that is longer than a sentence or 2 should be removed or replaced.

Please someone take on this task to polish up the game. Especially the Prehistoric era since so many people play that. We want it to look nice when people on YouTube show off our game to the public. If it sound buggy and annoying then it just makes our mod look bad.

If I knew where these were being set I would have attacked them ages ago. I am anoyed by the length of them too.

All you need is a mike, Audacity is free software and works real nice. I was going to try my voice but now my NEW PC is in the shop for overheating, for 2 months.

Well some of the worst offenders are in Prehistoric_CIV4GameText.xml

You should go through them and remove or replace the tips that are way too long. Plus many are not tips at all but pedia text. That should not be.

I did that once, and YOU (i believe it was you) (might have been TB)?? protested against me doing so, saying should put them back in because "at least its something there"???

Many of the Pedia entries in that file were miss formatted but I could not find any Sid's Tips. How are they defined? What is the tag?

edit I have done this for some of them. In some cases it looks like the pedia and strategy entries have been swapped eg Stone Thrower.

I have done about 1/5th of the file in about 30 minutes! Very mind numbing! I post to the SVN soon can't guarintee I'll get it all done in one sitting.
