When i start civ4 the loading dialog comes up ... and it stops doing anything on the "initializing sound.." part
So i dig up the config file and set
AudioEnable = 0
Now i start up the game again ... it gets past the audio initialization (logical
) and it crashes on a TON of XML errors in the "InitPython" part
First error is:
Failed Loading XML file xml/GlobalDefines.xml [.\FMml.cpp:133] Error parsing XML File - File: xml\globalDefines.xml. Reason: Error parsing '0.7' as float datatype. Line 894, 24, source: <fDefineFloatVal>0.7</fDefineFloatVal>
After that it comes up with a ton more xml errors i have to click thru before it will finally die (first lot of float errors, then allocating zero or less memory errors)
Now this is AFTER removing all my previously installed audigy drivers and installing the latest stable versions
And after removing & reinstalling my ATI drivers
And removing & reinstalling directx 9c
And removing and reinstalling civ4, default location and options all the way..
And disableling audio because it crashes on that too ...
Now i've jumped thru enough hoops, reinstalled everything under the sun, wasted over an hour of my life trying to get it to work, this seems all rather silly to me that a released game can be THAT hard to get working. A bit shocked to be honest, and disapointed i can't play :-(
