Hi,

Need some help here. I am in this game where right after this turn, I 'automatically' declare war on Zara Yaqob. I have checked the sequence of events that transpired and no, Zara Yaqob did NOT declare war on any of my vassals.

I really cannot think of any other reasons that would cause me to declare war on Zara Yaqob. This is really odd. Can anyone please help? Many thanks in advance.

I played for 10 turns and I didn't get a war declaration . Although I did notice that Zara was an "We Have Enough On Our Hands Right Now" (WHEOOHRN) mode which means he's most likely about to attack someone
He is also considerably more powerful than you, and doesn't like you very much so you are a likely target.
Apart from that I don't know

Are you sure you didn't accidently hit your Alt key while clicking on his name in the scoreboard, instead of Ctrl? I've done that a few times and it caused an immediate declaration of war.

I forgot there was another step for Zara Yaqob to declare war on me. I have to captipulate Catherine first in the same round, and then I will automatically declare war on Zara Yaqob. Really sorry for the mistake I made.

Can you please relook into the situation again? I have uploaded a new save file here, the only difference from the old is just the captipulation of Catherine.

I do apologise for my stupidity before this. :P

Ah it's the infamous "Infiltrator" event. Look it up in ori's Random Events list.

If this random event is received by a rival player and they choose a particular option, it causes you to declare war on them. It's weird, but it's how that event works.

The notification for this event is in the event log by the way. Press Ctrl+TAB and scroll down to before the war declarations.

So an events can make the most powerful guy to DOW on you? Amazing!

No, it makes YOU declare war on HIM. Which means you also declare war on anyone he has a defence pact with. So as well a war you hadn't planned to start, with one or more AIs who might be more powerful than you, you also get negative diplomacy hits with all their friends because you started it

THIS is why events suck...that and every game my pasture gets destroyed by termites one turn after I complete it.

At least some events make sense, but what in the world would force YOU to declare war on someone, without you giving input. Now if it wanted to say they declared war on you, that would be a different story.

Damn, so there's no actual way to avoid it then. :S Oh well, thanks for looking into the matter. Learned something new. :)

You could always turn it off in your games, it's not that difficult to do. I've turned off all the quests and barbarian uprisings.

Come on, this event is one of the better events, its usually always the same crap with some improvement or another being destroyed. This actually has some use, you can even get a great spy from it. Admittedly it isn't very balanced, but its a lot of fun.
