What good movies are out there that are told entirely through music and sound effects, or even just music?

I can think of a few:

Fantasia
The Snowman
that Koyaniquatsi or whatever film

Any others?

Koyaanisqatsi FTW!

Hell in the Pacific

Toshiro Mifune plays a Japanese officer marooned on a desolate remote island, where Lee Marvin washes up as a downed U.S. pilot. There is a very small amount of spoken language, but as neither can understand the other, zero dialogue. Pretty cool movie, IMHO; Toshiro Mifune rules (as does Kurosawa, the director, of course).

La Guerre du feu.

Most of early charlie chaplin movies were good but had some written dialogue, do those count? :)

Most silent films had title cards, so they don't really fit with the theme of the OP.

The first thing I thought of was Le Dernier Combat, but it does have that one exchange . . .

My Dinner with Andre. Nobody says a word in that movie.:mischief:

Not a movie, but I always liked the Buffy the Vampire Slayer episode named 'Hush' where the main characters are left unable to speak for most of the time (season fourr, IIRC).

The three Star Wars prequels didn't have any real dialogue, but they were far from awesome.

"It's because I love you."
"No, it's because I love you!"

Arrrrgggghhh!
