Pre-Turns: OK MV, now hear ye: units do good jobs in great doomful stacks of said "doom". They then bring doom. You must concentrate forces and doomfully attack with a lot of them. We have 23 CONS, which is good, but what would be great is 2 stacks of 11 CONS hardly stopping by at all.
Valladolid will make a doomful barrack before keeping on production of doomful CONS.

I will let Rome handle the cursed Dutch war: swiss mercs are too hardy for our cons.

T1: Set MilTrad in 8 so we get cash for unit rushing. The rest of the MA techs are now heretic and must be researched by other nations.
Prep for a bow/MDI/Kn army next turn, who will enforce into evil
Prep 2 stacks for the Indian war.
Captured Yamama off the Arabs. Consolidate a little stack there for the Zulu.
MM the whole core to make 24/18/14/12/10 shields for less shields loss.

IT: Lose South Point to 2 reg Zulu archers. Not that it was that important a town.

T2: 31 CONS and counting. Capture the one-before-last Arab city.
ARMY ready, heading for Amsterdam. Maybe IT can burn some swiss.
8 CONS westwards to Zululand
5 CONS Southwards to Arabia
18 CONS Eastwards to India
RUSH 3 CONS that were 2/3 turns from complete.

T3: Seville builds Heroic Epic, Madrid a Pre-Build for mil academy.
OMG Zimbabwe is like out there on the border, and that other zulu town to the right had nothing but one reg defender.
Army in Amsterdam takes out 2 defenders and retreats at 3hp.
14 CONS ready for the indian campaign. They don't have Theology yet, but WE are ready and will declare next turn.

T4: lose 4 CONS at Zimbabwe. 4 impis from which we cannot retreat is tough luck. Hopefully we can deal with what's left of them, with care.
India offers little resistance. 3 cities fall right on the declare turn.

T5: 2 more indian cities fall, 4 to go.
1 more zulu city falls, 2 to go.

T6: Mil Trad is in, set research on Physics (we'll eventually want Magellan's)
Send reinforcements in Zulu lands, they built another city and recaptured Zululand :shy:
Capture one more indian town.
Army kills 2 more swisses at Amsterdam.

IT: Hiawata comes for a pipe, so I show him how to smoke the leaves of go away.

T7 and 8: Not much, some indian bashing. Reinforcements arrive in Zululand.

T9: AZ are a republic, so I'll drop them a musketman of doom, to raise WW and hopefully force a govt change.
There were 3 hidden indian towns off the count, and now only 2 remain.
Ivory and gems connected.

T10: For some reason, Chittatong, the last indian remain, has been a pain conquering.

4 slaves are working on connecting silks and spices to the Kingdom. That's 8 luxes for ourselves :cool:

I've tried making something constructive of the conquistador fleet so that you can do a good job with the koreans. I think I went too fast with the indians, I lost a few to attacking MDI's, but hey, they've got one city left.
The one musket in the galley should go to the nearest Incan mountain to fortify itself and soak in attacks. If you can find a spot near america and RoP Lincoln, you could even heal it and make it a never-gonna-die WW producer.

we, the corporal and the ninja, have slain countless barbarians, subjugated some kingdoms and drank lots of bourboun.
meanwhile the young one has snatched my game away, with wile and guile.
the padwan promised the save...
mayhaps the padwan has gone on into darker realms?
i for one shall now leave this world, in favour of the company of many loose women and my dear friends Jack and Jhonny. probaly to meet also my friend mr Smith as well.

Pre-turn – Increase sci to 50%, Nav due in 3 instead of 5.

710 (1) – The Hague lib->conq. Santiago conq->conq. Valencia conq->conq. Asturias conq->market.

Kill the longbow by Groningen.

I finally get to try out Conquistadors. I love the sound they make when they move. Destroy Mpondo, taking 1 damage. Destroy Isandhlwana and capture a slave, and the Zulu are no more.

Declare on Korea. Namp’o had just 1 spear. It falls, and we get 64 gold. A conquistador dies capturing Wonsan and 71 gold.

We meet Japan (I don’t think we knew him earlier). Toku’s still in the Ancient Age, which means we can be friends for a little longer.

Redline a conq capturing Chittagong. That wasn’t the last Indian city…there’s another south of Kolhapur. All the conqs in the area are badly injured, though.
Drop a musket onto Incan land for some “exploring”.

IBT – Rome and Netherlands make peace. Which means we’re now at peace, I believe.
England and Vikings sign a peace treaty.

720 (2) – SWD conq->cav (we can use these in armies). Seville Heroic Epic->conq.

I decide to give the Dutch a break for now…at least until I move our units out of his territory…:evil:

Oh, wait a minute. The city south of Kolhapur is Japanese…then where is the last Indian city? I rush a temple in Chittagong so I can rush a caravel next turn. Rush a pike in Tsintao.

IBT – A reg conq is killed but redlines a Korean MDI.
Navigation in, start on Economics due in 5.
Romans start Sistine’s.

730 (3) – Paris conq->barracks. Bearish conq->conq. Zaragoza conq->conq. THE MECCA temple->worker. Tsingtao pike->temple. Logrono barracks->conq. Chittagong temple->caravel.

Trade world maps around and find Jaipur, the last Indian city. We now have a near complete view of the world.
Ugh. Seoul has pikes, is size 8, and is completely surrounded by rivers.

Redeclare on the Dutch.

740 (4) – Murcia conq->conq.

Amsterdam falls with much less of a fight than I anticipated. The first __ brought the army to half health, but the second (and last) didn’t dent it. We capture Amsterdam along with 1 gold and the Great Library, and destroy a galley.

Oh, and I think the other 2 luxes were hooked up this turn. We now have all 8 luxes in most cities.
Pillage a gem in Incan land.
Pillage around Seoul. I plan on bringing its pop below 6 to get rid of some of its bonuses.

Rush a temple in Wonsan.

IBT – The horse up by Jaipur is attacked by an archer.

750 (5) – Wonsan temple->caravel. Pamplona market->settler. I think we should settle those 1 tile islands off the coast of Spain before England or the Vikings do…otherwise, we can’t win by Conquests. :eek: I just thought about that!

Switch Murcia to settler. Upgrade 2 galleys to caravels.

Capture Jaipur without taking a scratch from either spear. Uh oh. The Indians are not dead. The Espionage screen shows no more cities so they must have a settler on a boat. :mad:

Lose a conq and redline 2 others capturing P’yongyang, 89 gold and a slave.

Send 2 conqs up towards Cheju (Korean) and find a longbow guarding a worker…you know what happens next…

Switch Madrid from Mil Acad to Magellan’s. Was that what we wanted to do?

IBT – Korea and the Vikings sign a MA against us…the bastards…

760 (6) – Seville conq->conq. Orleans conq->conq. Santiago conq->conq. Murcia settler->conq.

Rush a settler in Pamplona. 2 swiss mercs are killed at Groningen for the loss of 1 conq, but it is still not ours. It’s on a hill, so all 6 of the conqs I sent to attack the city were redlined (well, and the one died).

The attempted attack on Cheju fails. We kill one spear, but a second kills a conq. There’s also a longbow in there.
The attack on Haarlem also fails. 2 conqs are lost, and we kill just one spear which redlined a conq. There’s a longbow in here too.
Rush a caravel in Wonsan.

I just noticed that Nagoya is on a 1 tile island…we can’t get a Conquest victory unless we bend the rules a little bit. :mischief:

I get 188 gold from Caesar for trading him our world map…

IBT – The longbow from Haarlem kills the redlined conq.
Romans complete Sun Tzu’s in Veii. Koreans start Leo’s.

770 (7) – Paris barracks->conq. Mecca spear->temple. Medina temple->harbor. SWD cav->conq. Bearish conq->conq. Wonsan caravel->musket. Lyons court->barracks. Pamplona settler->musket.

China is now in the Middle Ages. 2 more techs (Theology) and we’ll be at war.

Alright, I’ve completely surrounded the land around Seoul and the caravel has blockaded the city, so it should be cut off from everyone and starving now…actually, by my calculations it can still support up to 8 citizens because it has 3 usable fish still.
Switch Wonsan to another caravel.

IBT – The Vikings bring TONS of swords into the area outside Marseille…
Caesar does not wish to continue our RoP…hmm… meh, his loss…ah, it appears someone (probably me) broke a deal with the Dutch somehow…oh, I redeclared before 20 turns were up…whoops…
Economics in, and since we can’t research Physics (I don’t want to be a heretic), start on PP, but turn Sci to 0% with a scientist.

780 (8) – Valencia conq->conq. Basra temple->musket. Yamama spear->temple. Rome declared on the Vikings…you mean he hadn’t already? I thought he was automatically at war with them when they declared on us… :confused:

The army kills the last swiss merc in Groningen and we also get a slave. D’oh! Holwerd becomes the capital. It’s up on the North Pole! And on an island. Rush a temple in Besancon so we can build a caravel.

There are 3 swords outside Marseilles which is defended by an Elite sword and a vet conq…it will be a close battle. However, there’re also 3 more swords coming in the next 2 turns.

Found IroP’s Getaway on the single tile island west of Madrid.
IBT – I was right about Marseilles. It was one hell of a battle. The first sword attacked our Elite, redlining it. I was thinking, ok, we’re still good. The second sword attacks and kills the conq. Right about here it was where I started saying goodbye to the city. The third sword attacks the redlined Elite. One hp is taken off of him, then a second, and a third, and we win. Thanks RNG! There’s still 5 more swords out there, but Knight and conq reinforcements will arrive this turn and next, and the army will be there shortly.

Rome declared war on the Koreans…ok.

An Incan sword attacks the musket on a mountain and fails miserably.

790 (9) – Zaragoza conq->conq. Utrecht temple->musket. Logrono conq->conq. Valladolid court->conq. Besancon temple->caravel.

A conq kills one of the swords by Marseilles. Just 1 full health sword can attack next turn.

Well, I don’t think I’ll ever starve Seoul down. According to F11 it’s not even starving.

IBT – Another Incan sword attacks the musket and dies. Korea asks for peace. We can get one of his 3 remaining cities for peace. I’ll try taking Seoul this turn first.
A longbow attacks Tsingtao but impales itself on our pike. A sword is slaughtered when attacking Marseilles, but another retreats a horse that was going to the city.

800 (10) – Seville conq->conq. Baghdad spear->temple. Anjar worker->temple. Beorn’s vacation spear->temple.

Capture Eindhoven (Viking).

Alright, there’s 12 conquistadors ready to attack Seoul, size 9, behind a river, with pikes.
There was only 1 pike, and 2 or 3 spears, but Seoul is captured, along with the Colossus, and the Great Lighthouse! The GL is obsolete at Magnetism, so it’s still useful.
Only 2 conqs were lost, while 5 were injured, so there’s 4 full health conqs left (1 has been injured for a long time…).

Capture a Korean worker that was in Chinese territory for some reason.

Korea has just 2 cities left sizes 1 and 2, so they should be dead in a couple of turns. India is still MIA. Japan has 2 1-tile islands…what’re we going to do about them?

We can either make peace with the Dutch and get some gold (won’t give us Haarlem), or rush the caravel in Besancon and send a couple conqs up there to finish William off. There’s a Dutch longbow closing in on Jaipur, too, which is defended by a lone horse. We’ll probably have to abandon it.

Vikings have 8 swords, one injured and a MDI outside Marseilles. That’s probably a good majority of Ragnar’s attack force, so once they’re gone, he should fall easily. We should probably finish them off ASAP before they get Berserks (if they haven’t already).
 
Full exact translation: Toothbrushing the academy from those mongol horsemen is giving me a headache but I resolved to go completely nuts, that way I will no longer have to drink my problems out to forget them: I won't have a brain to remember them !

EDIT: Reread the rules, and I think I finally understand. By "off-land wars", it means anything not on LAND. So we can use marines... :blush:
 
Yeah I meant to ask that...can you guys win by Conquest being in an alliance with rome? This is a pretty big map for a domination win.
 
Asking of rome to win for us would be to stain the roman Pope's hands, MV. Off-land wars means anything that is not within a teal/blue dotted line of imaginary territory boundary.

We can and shall win by conquests. If and when we'll need to do sacrifices to the variantsssssss, I might give it a thought. For now, let's rely on more barracks, more CONS, and more towns taken.
