B1 - Aztec Succession game

On further consideration, skip my turn this time around. I'm right in the middle of moving and things have just gotten very hectic. Things should be settled down in a few days so I shouldn't have a problem with my next turn.

Brian, do you want to play, or should I?

Sounds like you had fun :) That is why I didn't want to just give up on this one, it will force us into decisions that we normally wouldn't even think about making

 WHAT THE HELL.

Brian, I thought you said for me to move. I start playing about 9:30. I don't check the boards while I am moving in a game.

More disapointing, mine was better. We GOT the Chappel, and Egypt is going after Germany. We were set to get all of the Indian cities. I already had taken 4, and was ready to march on there capital.

This if total BS. Why do you tell me to play, and don't even give me a lousy 1 hour to move.

Lee, sorry, I didn't see your response, so thought you hadn't seen the one where I said you could play. I dind't know you had started already, or I wouldnt have started mine.

I hope you wont drop out, but I understand if you do.

I won't let that happen again. If you want to post yours, I'll withdraw mine.

Again, I'm really sorry.

The standard I am use to, and use in my games in 24 hours to post your intention to play.

If I can finish in less then 24 hours, I don't bother creating post to say I am playing.

THE REAL SET OF MOVES

If this happens again, ...
Let's just say you won't like the results.

Pre-turn -
I put St. Pet, and Minsk in zero growth mode. I want to avoid unhappy people, as they increase the chance of the dreaded flip.

Who in the world are the Greeks that we are fighting??? I can't find them on the map :( I try to get world map and fail, however I sell our World map for a few bucks and get more territory maps. We have a little better view of the world.

The one good piece of news - 10 turns left on the RoP with Iroqious, we can get the swordsmans home. It really bites that 90% of our offensive military was in St. Pet.

The only people that can help vs. India are Egypt and Iroqoius, and neither are interested.

600 AD - We get royally screwed, and lose St. Pet. So much for our Ivory source :(
610 AD - Lighthouse completed - some cascades to SunTzu and Sistine. I start researching Chivarly, we better get that Indian city.
640 AD - I had to give up a tech, but we FINALLY have a world map.
 The Greeks are hugh!
650 AD - First round of fighting vs. India We lose 1 swordsman, he loses 2 swordsman, 1 archer.
His counter attack is we lose 1 swordsman, he loses 2 swordman.
660 AD - - Egypt declares war on America, how will he ever get there
We lose a swordman, but chase the last of India away from Mzin.
Next science goal - engineering. The rivers are really slowing down movement for us.
680 AD - [dance] We pillage the Iron source by Lahore.
690 AD - We lose the 2 swordmans that did the pilaging :(
:midfinger India was use to give him Chivarly for Peace :midfinger
Right, I will make you stronger for your next attack

710 AD - Surprise India, the Aztecs are here to give you a kucklesandwich [punch]
So what do you think of the 10 swordsman by Lahore?
720 AD - [party] We take Lahore, we now have a source of horses!
Between we killed 3 units, losing just 1 :)
730 AD - Interesting, now Egypt and Iroqoius are at least willing to dicuss an alliance vs. India. However, the price is to high. Greece complete SunTzu. Hugh cascade to Sistine.
740 AD - More bad news, for India ;) Bombay falls.
750 AD - Begin research on Invention. Thanks you Germany, 2 archers commit suicide giving us an elite swordsman.
760 AD - You know what, I don't think Germany has any iron. The best unit I have seen is an archer. Oh, multiple enemy units died at no cost to us.
 Our jaguar warrior lands in the mountains by India, and 3 archers die before killing it
770 AD - :flamedevi: I give Rome $300 to turn on Germany. They are doing more damage then India!
I give Egypt $75 and $16/turn to turn on Germany
Rome gets Russia to join the beat up Germany party :)
[dance] I can't believe it, but we get Sistine Chapel [dance]
780 AD - Bangore falls, and 4 workers gained. The Iroqouis also turn on Germany. I think Germany will be burning soon. The phony war between Egypt and America is over.
790 AD - The silks from Minsk are finnally connected to the road net.
800 AD - We see our first DEAD war elephant. I  luxuries. Trade the Iroqoius silks for Printing Press, World Map and $100. Russia gives us $5/t for Silks.
810 AD - Jaipur is the next to fall.

Summary -
Well, the Aztecs thank India.
4 cities gained so far.
We have a source for horses, soon to be connected. 1 road segment left to build.
Switch all production to knight when that road is completed
If we get a leader, build the FP somewhere in India. The Aztecs will become a civ to be feared with those cities on line ;)
Starve all India towns down to size 1.
Don't ally with Egypt vs. India. We want egypt to waste years marching there trooops to Germany.
Wait for knight before attacking Delhi, it gets a 50% defense bonus at that size
Kill India even if we have to go into Monarchy. This is the game winning move for us

And you were right, yours was better than mine!

So I will try to play tonight again. I have 3 games that I'm up in but should be able to get to most of them today.

I'm at work now.. Its my birthday and my wife is away..

:bday: to me.. :)

Inherited turn 820 AD:
A very impressive looking Indian Elephant attacks our sword stack and kills one swordsman.

Greece wants peace for our world map, Engineering, and all our gold. I tell him where to go.

830 AD:
A huge stack of workers is auto-moved near Atzcap... Not sure where they are intended for.
Iroquois and Russian soldiers are marching through our lands.. Hope they aren't leaving their homelands undefended *grin*

840 AD:
The re-combobulated Elephant kills another swordsman!

England and Greece have signed a military alliance against us!

All production switched to Knights.

850 AD:
The attack on Madras begins, we kill a Pike and a Spearman.

860 AD:
We defeat 2 Elephants!
We take Madras!

870 AD:
The Germans want to talk. We ignore them.
The resistence in Madras ends already.

880 AD:
We fight off an Elephant from Hyderabad.
We learn Invention. Start Gunpowder.

890 AD:
We take Hyderabad!

900 AD:
Germany and Egypt have signed a peace treaty.

We take Bengal!

910 AD:
3 of our swordsmen die attacking a super-elephant.

920 AD:
Super-elephant kills another swordsman. Thats ok, knights are on the way. A great leader, Ahuitzotl appears by Chittagong!

Russia wants to trade Ivory for furs plus 13 gpt to them. I agree to trade Iron. Iron will probably be obsolete by the time the agreement runs out, and we have another source in Indian lands waiting to be hooked up.

Watching Iroquois troop movement is getting old. They have way too many units.

We capture Chittagong! Lost 1 swordsman though.

930 AD:
Troop movement. Inital attack on Delhi fails miserably. 2 knights lost.

940 AD:
Forbidden palace built in Madras!

950 AD:
We take Calcutta!

960 AD:
Troop movement.

970 AD:
Troop movement.

980 AD:
Greece and France declare war on us! Good thing they are so far away. Now, if they convince Iroquois or Russia to join in, we are dead meat!

990 AD:
We take Dacca!
The siege of Delhi continues.

1000 AD:
An attack on Delhi fails.

1010 AD:
Germany and Iroquois sign a peace treaty.

1020 AD:
Egypt wants to trade World Maps if we throw in 80 gold. I turn her down. I give her our territory map to stay on her good side.
Germany and Rome have signed a peace treaty. We do too as Rome was our last ally against them.
Greece wants 180 gold for peace, so does England. nah..

Brianzuma dies in the siege of Delhi! The heir vows to carry on ther war against the evil Indians!

Well, this was a productive turn. India is done for. Just 3 cities left, and they will be ours! bwwaahahaha..

It may be more productive to take Kolhapur and Karachi before Delhi. It is a tough nut to crack.
They have no horses or iron, no way to trade or get new units.

Good luck to the next leader!

Just to avoid any confusion, what is the current playing order in this game?

Very good question! I should have posted this last night, sorry.

Nanook, I put you back into your regular turn sequence. You are up next! Sorry Shdwlord, you would have been up next but Nanook missed a turn so I put him back in..

Preturn: Finagled the tax rate to cut Gunpowder from 7 to 5 turns while maintaining a positive cash flow.

1, 1030: Dacca goes into disorder again. War weariness is getting to them. Forced to turn the last of the citizens into an entertainer to maintain the peace. Dehli captured, losing one knight in the process. Lots of resisters here, will leave some units behind to rest and kill...errr quell the resistors.

2, 1040: Gunpowder discovered, banking started. Yay, we have a source of saltpeter! Traded Furs to the Babs for Music Theory, Astonomy, Territory map and 8 gp. Others have already started JS Bachs and Copernicus, so I'm not giong to bother gunning for them unless we get beat on Leo's. Purchased Banking and Navigation also from the Babs for 410 gp. This left me with a decision between Chemistry(heading for Military Tradition) or Democracy to research now. They both will take ~17 turns to get, so I decided on Democracy to hurry things along when it arrives. Sold Silks to the Iroquois for World Map, 15gp/turn, and 30 gp.

3, 1050: India wants to talk peace. I tell them I want all their remaining cities outside of their capital. They refuse. I tell them where they can go then. Told the Iroquois to get off our land or else. They choose not to find out what or else means. Smart decision  Assault on Kohlapur begun, with the first knight on the scene killing a pikeman with no damage done to him.

4, 1060: Our second assault on Kohl was the exact opposite of the first, our knight died without inflicting any damage. Third knight did quite a bit of damage before retreating. Fourth killed a pikeman and became elite in the process. The rest of our troops moved into position. Expect Kohl to fall next turn.

5, 1070: War weariness is getting REALLY heavy. Will be forced to make peace soon I think. But first, Kohl falls to our knight easily, capturing some workers in the process. Since war weariness is getting obscene, I cut a deal with the Indians. I took their last 3 remaining non-capital cities, all their gold(a whopping 3 pieces), and their world map. Decided that 120 gold was worth preventing our cities from revolting, I paid the Greeks for peace as well. Its time for a bit of a retrenchment I think. When we get to Mil Tradition and Cavalry, then we should consider laying the smack down on the Iroquois. Embassies established in the rest of the world(Greece, Russia and America).

6, 1080: Iroquois want to trade world maps and want us to include 1 gp. I decide 1gp is worth their goodwill(for now) and agree. I also changed my mind about retrenching, sending a force of knights after the last Indian city of Karachi. heheh

7, 1090: Assault on Karachi begun. 4 knights later we have 3 dead pikeman and 1 dead knight.

8, 1100: When did we start a war with the English? They requested a peace treaty, which I agreed to in exchange for their world map and 6 gp. Karachi falls and the Indians are no more! I see we're also at war with the French. Peace treaty negotiated for world map and 10 gp. Every litle bit helps. Further, we are no longer at war with anyone, enabling me to drop our luxury rate back to 0, more than triping our income without losing out on science.

9, 1110: Athens completes Copernicus's Observatory. We weren't building that so no big loss.

10, 1120: Nothing important to report.

A fairly triumphant return if I do say so myself. The entire world is polite towards us. I could easily see us winning a diplo victory. I wouldn't mind laying a smack down on the Iroquois later on, when we discover Military Tradition, but thats up to the group to decide.
