So all of you married dudes that love Civ know where I'm coming from. I can spend $1000 on soaps, towels or decoration junk but $40 towards a game is a no way. But if I do someone a favor and get it in return, well can't say anything about a gift! ;)

So what I came up with is bartering. I haven't found anyone yet but anyone here is welcome to take me up on it (websites, logos, you name it). But keep this thread in here cause its more of a suggestion to all you fellow married dudes in the same spot as me. Come up with a favor you can do a friend and blammo, there you have it. Man I can't wait....

good luck lifeaquatic, i bet you'll find a taker sooner rather than later. i'll even talk to my wife and ask if she's interested in revamping her website.

great! We actually get a lot of work, but I can't really ask my present clients for such a reuqest and expect to be taken seriously. I figured people off of here though would understand my civ obsession and not judge.

I hear ya, Women spend $$ on all there crap but as soon as i want a $40-$50 game OH man do i hear this and that...blah blah blah.........you dont need it.

Well I'm not sure on that one... I have a pretty nice Toshiba satelite and the video card works great for most things it seems but it didn't like battlefield vietname so I don't know. Although it worked great for Pirates which is the same graphics as civ iv i believe.

Why not get the game and give your wife another $40 to spend on herself? If she has a hobby or interest of her own I'm sure she would be only too happy to have a little extra cash to spend on it, I know I would. ;)

I used this once and got away with it:

Buy something from a large store for her or the house that you know she wont like/use/want etc that is worth approx $50. She'll appreciate the thought :mischief: but will tell you to return it. Ask for store credit and get your game with it, and hope she doesnt check to see if it went back on your card. ;)

You're a genius man. Let's hope that they don't read this forum.

Your marriage must not be very strong (or money must be really tight) if you're trying to figure out ways to sneak a $50 game purchase into the house.

LOL hey not that desperate. I live in LA. Man that would be a drive, eh? But i can get you going on a decent website!
You live in LA as in Los Angeles... not Loisianna right? $40 or $50 compared to the cost of living is extremely small here...

If you're serious, send me a message, i'll get you a game
