Bash/Panzar

I will take a few hours to think about this position. Don't expect another move for a little while.

Yeah, sure.

I think that your Queen go ahead rather preemptively - You haven't now any choosing in order of your moves for counter-attacking & I try to prevent your only possible way of activity. Your move Qa5 AFTER my h4 is rather strange & I think that in my youth I'd make immediate assault on your castle, but I'm really old now & my blood is colder....

Well, this position demand some thinking indeed :)

10. h4, Qa5
11. Bb3, Ne5

I don't know... looked like a fairly good square for my Queen. Prevents you from moving the Knight on c3 (unless you want a Queen exchange, which I seriously doubt.) and it's centralized without any immediate threats (Nb3 is hardly a good move removing a Knight from such a powerful square.) Also, it can reach the other flank if neccessary, as well as giving my Rooks room to move on the 8:th rank.

All in all, on my level of expertise, it looked like a good move. Doesn't mean it is though...

That I had not expected... I'll definately take my time on this move. It's 01:05 am here now, so don't expect another move shortly. (My computer tells me Moscow is GMT +3 = 03:05, shouldn't you be asleep as well?)

Pretty good game so far, I don't think I've screwed up just yet anyway. :)

You are welcome!

I will be available till 7:00 of today, but after that I will be in stable contact from 7:00 of 12th. In between I will answer you from my home station, but it'll be scarce & seldom ;)

I can't seem to sleep, so here's my next move.

I was tempted with Rxc3 for a little while, since I get a good position with bxc3. However Qxc3 and suddenly things don't look so good anymore.

Nc4 is the best move I can find. At least it will exchange a piece which will probably be good for me in this position.

11. Bb3, Ne5
12. 0-0-0, Rfc8
13. Kb1, Nc4

Of course I found it myself. I don't have a grandmaster in my family and I'm not cheating. Unless you consider looking in a chessbook with opening moves during the game as cheating. I don't always follow its moves, but it does help me in some situations I'm not familiar with especially as black. Besides, we've been off the opening theory (at least what I have access to) for some moves now. I just have one thin book on openings, "Chess Openings" by Mike Bassman.

I also found this move on my own:

11. Bb3, Ne5
12. 0-0-0, Rfc8
13. Kb1, Nc4
14. Bxc4, Rxc4

Not bad, eh? ;)

Fine. Really good. I didn't try to offend you. Excuse me if it was impression.

11. Bb3, Ne5
12. 0-0-0, Rfc8
13. Kb1, Nc4
14. Bxc4, Rxc4
15. Nb3

Destruction of my "white white bishop" in Rauser attack is most important part of Black strategy then... That is that.

Once again you keep making moves I didn't think you'd make. Either you're not making the best moves or my analysis are way off... probably the latter.

And no, of course I do not take any offense. I'm sorry if I seemed a bit sarcastic. That's because I generally am. I like sarcasm. :)

I admit that in one game some time ago, I did check this one move in Chessmaster because I couln't find a single good move to make. It made it easier to check once more and I did, checked a few times that game. So after that game I've never done that again. Because it's really no fun that way. There's no way you improve your game with that. And there's very little prizemoney to be made. :)

Nb3... hmmm.... my Queen seems to have three squares to chose from; a6 and c7 and possibly d8. d8 looks a bit dangerous since it's a semi open line with your rook on it. c7 blocks my rook from retreating back. a6 looks possible, but it's hard to say... I'll need a few minutes to think about it.

Well, Qd8 is out. Would be too inactive and on a bad (semi-open) file, and you could gain a tempo on my rook. But should I make Qa6 or Qc7? Hmmm...

I have a few moves I'd like to make but no real plan, which is a bad thing. It was a long time ago I had this hard to make up my mind on a move...

Well, I suppose I'll take my chances on

11. Bb3, Ne5
12. 0-0-0, Rfc8
13. Kb1, Nc4
14. Bxc4, Rxc4
15. Nb3, Qc7

I think it's the better move. Keeping some pressure on my semi open-file.

Pushing pawns, what a good idea.

11. Bb3, Ne5
12. 0-0-0, Rfc8
13. Kb1, Nc4
14. Bxc4, Rxc4
15. Nb3, Qc7
16. g4, b5

Yes... I was expecting that. One of the reasons for putting my Queen on c7 rather than a6. Still seems scarier than I had anticipated... oh well, I can hardly make dxe5 because of g5 and loss of a piece. Moving the knight to e8 now and Nd5 looks pretty bad. Fortunately, I believe I have a way of getting rid of that knight move.

11. Bb3, Ne5
12. 0-0-0, Rfc8
13. Kb1, Nc4
14. Bxc4, Rxc4
15. Nb3, Qc7
16. g4, b5
17. e5, b4
