bed_03 - RaR, Demigod, random civ

110 AD (1) - Poetry gets Math and 40g from the Inca.

130 AD (3) - Finish Library in Kyoto, start the bigger one.

140 AD (4) - Get Trade and Naval Warfare for Drama and 300g. Get the money back and a bit more selling Literature.

150 AD (5) - Finish Polytheism, start Monotheism.

170 AD (7) - Trade Polytheism for Riding and 9g.

180 AD (or was it 190 AD) - Get Monotheism, start Currency.

Pretty boring turns. There are barbs in the north, but they haven't moved on us yet. I moved some champs and Tribal Guards up, but if we could get a better unit up there that would be good. Unfortunately, we don't have much that is better to build at the moment.

Nice trading! Told ya the Inca would come through for us. Once production boosters are finished in core cities, Bazaars are very handy (they boost both tax and lux).

Pls merge workers into Kyoto. We should never let it drop below 10. Shangri La is a Bach's (the only one in the game!). Let's get it built.

In MA, agreed we go for Naval Spirit first? Then let's do a little more development (milling/clockworks) before hitting our UU and GA.

I did not know that. If I could have a skip, that would be helpful - won't be able to play til Tuesday.

@bezhukov,

I am up in 2 games, this one I would play only tuesday night s'pore time, so actually you can play Tuesday still. should be fine

or d-man could take it, since he skipped the weekend

I was going to say i take it, but i better dedicate feb 14th to my wife....
Sorry about that... i will have plenty of time to play starting tomorrow. :)

Preflight: starve northern cities – need to keep them at 5 pop to get WLTK days. Hmmm, Currency would not be my choice, but not disastrous. Leave it there. Get RoP with Inca to reinforce western town and future incense town. He gives us 19 gold for it. Core cities still lack Slave Markets. Nara is building an aqueduct. :nono:

We’ll soon have ports, which do the same thing cheaper, with 50% tax and culture. Junior’s building an aqueduct in 141 turns! What are we, the AI? Switch to forge in 14, starving. Switch New Osaka to Water Mill – this would make a good dedicated military town, as it can only grow to 4, but can make nice shields. In general, it works better to get production boosters and granaries built before the sci buildings – even if sacrificing some early growth for the town – but several builds are too far along to waste the shields.

Our forests/mountains lack mines throughout the kingdom, and we’re wasting worker turns cleaning pollution on volcanos – why? Send worker crews on their way, two native workers to merge in Kyoto.

IBT: Incas start GL.

210AD: not much happenin. Send a couple champs and the spear in Tenoch (why is the settler still here?) up to deal with barbs, we’d rather avoid an uprising, I think.

220AD: zzzz. Currency in one, GL in 2.

230AD: Larry CH->forge, Bob CH->forge, Yoko Academy->Shrine (preparing for Slave Market), Currency->Monasticism (in 4), Inca is probably researching IW), Inca be gone has grown enough, switch to Slave Market in 2 (temporarily starving to work mountains), Sigh, the king remains unloved in the north, despite his generous provision of luxuries to the people.

240AD: GL: completes. Starve a little to get Toll House in 1. Same in fukushima to get in two. Need to get revenues up.

250AD: Tokyo Academy-> Spear – barbs killed all our northern units flawlessly, whatever! :( Will need to let them pillage. Inca be gone: Slave Market->shrine (end starving). Rush court in malinalco to prepare for pillaging. This was really sloppy play – should have made sure to get barbs cleaned out up there instead of letting them fester.

IBT: barbs pillage roads.

260AD: Rush some courts to prepare for pillage, empty cities.

270AD: Various builds come in – basic plan is to get all production boosters (except worker housing, which is obsolete soon) and Bazaars in cities (Bazaars boost tax and lux both), then get sci buildings. We’ve got enough sci to crank along well right now. Monasticism->Seafaring in 2 (allows ports). Found city taking Inca incense, Shangri La in 7 in Kyoto (this will help go a long way to WLTK in northern cities. Found Izumi (coastal, grabs sheep and iron mountains) north of Yokohama.

280AD: trade Inca currency for a worker and some gold. Tokyo can now man two turn vet spears. Need to get our empire defended.

290AD: more pillaging – several champs headed north, spears being built.

300AD: Seafaring->Iron Working. We can now build ports – after coastal cities get production up, build ports and major ports to grow over 7.

Would be a good time to start mining some mountains in the mid-north to enhance MM opportunities. Some cities are starved to enhance shields. When they get near shrinking, they can then grow for a few turns, then return to high shields until they get the basics built (CH, if necessary, Slave Market, if under half corrupt, forge, shrine, granary if lacking food bonus), can also use this to help get ports finished.

This is important: when Shangri La comes in, it should be possible to get a lot of WLTK days by running 10% lux. This may require keeping these cities at 5 pop – they will eventually be very productive (lots of corruption reduction in RandR, so it’s a good idea to get the basics built in these cities now using WLTK)

Once Tokyo gets its Port and Major Port, pls build Bazaar to keep it happy and make bucks. We also have cheap temples and basilicas. Same goes for other coastal cities. Let’s shoot for Voyage of Discovery in Kyoto – we need it to make contact.

IBT WLTKD is celebrated in many cities. New Osaka toll house->bazaar

T5. 350AD. Worker actions and moving troops north.

IBT. Military Trainins is researched and we entered new era... i am lost since i have no idea what to research. Oh... Actually i have no choice.. Dark ages is the only tech available initially for research. So DarkAges in 4 turns.
Bizen SlaveMarket->CourtHouse; Tokyo port->bazaar; Yokohama port->bazaar

T6. 360AD. Worker actions and moving troops north

IBT. Kyoto bazaar->training camp. Kagoshima ->port; Suo CH->harbor

T7. 370AD. Troops are almost there. Trade with Incas.. I give them Monaststism in return for Elephant training 87 gold. They would also give us 1gpt but i didnt take it. I wasn't sure how soon we want to take it on Incas.

T8. 380AD. Champions attacks barbarian horse.. I lost 2 champs before barb is killed...

IBT. Fukushima. Philosopher school->barracks; Junior Forge->Sl. Market (???)

T9. 390AD. heal troops.

T10. 400AD Dark ages come and i switched to Warrior Code in 5.

Post-turn. There are too many barbarians for 3 champions.. I'd say we need to build few elephants or swordsman to dispatch them. I started barracks in one of our cities to produce vet. units.
Let me know how i played.

I think you did great!

1. Can we agree on focusing on military in New Osaka? It doesn't need the Bazaar, as it will only go to 4 pop. Any other thoughts? Barracks, then units.

2. Naval Spirit is the next tech research goal.

3. Junior does not get a Slave Market - shoot for WLTK day there. It has a CH, so should get about half it's shields. Send som workers there to mine.

save

It's all my fault we missed voyage...
I should have researched tech needed long time ago.
My apologies to the team.

>It's all my fault we missed voyage...

Actually it was mine. We could not have gotten the tech sooner - we lacked the required techs. I advised building it in Kyoto (referencing the pedia). Had we had a prebuild in a coastal city ready, we could have had it. No big deal, not like it allows ocean travel or anything. We can now build Long Ships, however. And they can enter ocean. Should also be able to settle the horse island now.
