Send 5 people, on horseback, with 2H guns and leather armor to harass the Crystal Crocs with superior range and mobility.
Send 20 people with Stealth Boys under the command of Matthew the Shadow to infiltrate the Crocs’ encampment. 10 try blow up their ammunition stockpile. The other 10, armed with Low-Tech Melée Weapons, take advantage of the distraction to assassinate the Crocs' leaders and strongmen.
All remaining people stay and defend Citrus City. With the aid of the militiamen volunteers from Bradenton and Essarqu, we should have a strong advantage at range. That said, their chem-abusing fighters will prove a grave danger at close range. Spend our preapatory time before the raiders arrive digging ditches in front of the entrences to Citrus City, to slow down their assault. Pick off as many raiders as possible before they close in. When the raiders reach melée range, keep them bottlenecked in narrow entrances as long as possible. Send in our fighters with low-tech melee weapons to hold them at bay, and support them by unleashing the dogs and fire support from 1H gun users.

The Seven Codes of The Crucible
Written by "Dr." Poxxy
Analyzed by William Holder of Waverly
The (Seven) Codes of The Crucible, or more commonly the Crucible Code; is a small book written by hand, with the cover often made of boiled skin and the pages strung together and connected with the spine by sinew. All og these materials are believed to originate from humans, but has yet to be confirmed through visual observation.
A written copy of the book is often found along the posessions of the common raider encountered within the urban ruins of Winter Haven county. These particularly brutal raiders, referred to as "Chem Dogs" due to their excessive consumption of combat stimulants, alcohol and psychoactive drugs, inhabit the former county hospital and appear under the command of a woman known only to us as Poxxy, or The Doctor.
At first believed to be simple gibberish by a single isolated raider, the Crucible Code appears to act as a sort of ideological guide or law manual for the Chem Dogs, containing a total of seven codes, of which I have with some frustration taken the time of writing down below for future reference.
1. Obscurity
If you don't know, do not admit it. Confuse the outsider.
2. Cruelty
If you can show kindness, do not provide it. Hurt the outsider.
3. Manners
If you speak with strangers, do not embrace it. Shun the outsider.
4. Duty
If you remain idle, do not expect reward. Do with the outsider what The Doctor commands.
5. Life
If you lose soul, do not despair. Only the Doctor can cure you.
6. Loyalty
If you lose heart, do not falter. No one will love you like The Doctor.
7. Lust
If you are chosen, do not be restrained. Spread the Doctor's love to the outsider.
After spending some time analyzing the text, I have come to a few conclusions. The codes mention "outsider" several times, and often in a hostile manner. This obviously means anyone not affiliated with them, which is worrisome. Another word mentioned in the beginning of the seventh code is the reader being "Chosen", suggesting that these raiders are the chosen compared to outsiders who are not.
The last cryptic word is "Doctor's Love" or being loved by the Doctor. In the fifth and sixth code the text appears soothing and reassuring towards the reader, but the seventh code reminds the reader to spread the "Doctor's Love" to outsiders, pointing to a dual-meaning in being loved. What this means in the end is unclear, but from what I've heard from passing travelers, and assuming that the doctor's love is how these raiders approach and interact with others, then it is something one would never wish upon themselves if even in their darkest nightmares.
This has been my analyzation of the raider handbook by Poxxy. I hope this material will somehow come in handy for future expeditions and salvagers venturing into Winter Haven.

Monticello was supposedly the ancient seat of the great Jefferson. We presumed that here we had finished our journey but we have not yet. Just as our predecessors took flight to Illinois after the Missouri Mormon war so did we leave Colorado for this place but just as the Mormons of the past did not find a home in Illinois we will not find a home in Georgia.
But I have learned there is a place waiting for us. This Monticello was not the Monticello we were promised. We must journey to the County named for the old Jefferson in the State of Sunshine. Southbound we should go.
Pick up your things and pack your bags. Carry as much food as you can. I need 25 volunteers to act as scouts and defend us from raiders.
Remaining here would be to live as the tribes of Israel in Babylon. We will not sing the lords song in this strange land. And one day those daughters of Babylon that are found in Eatonton will find our revenge is foretold in scripture. Let not your hands forget their skills sisters and brothers, for we will need every skill we have to make this last leg of our journey. It is time for us to take our Stake of Zion. It is time to find Monticello.

Mr. Bawkes's Box Emporium and Boxing Solutions
Leader: Mr. Bawkes
Leader Trait: Lucky
Starting Location: Blount Island, near Jacksonville, Florida
Leader Background:
'f it hadn't been for the Box-Men, oh/I'd've been married a long time ago/where did they come from/where do they go?/why do they make that Emporium grow?
-Local Folk Song
One day, there was a ship on the horizon. The next day, it had beached itself in the ruins of the old world shipping center. The day after, the ruins had been cleared, and a handful of buildings and defenses had sprung up. Over the next week, mysterious machinery rumbled, and mysterious noises echoed across the river. Volleys of fire set would-be trespassers to flight.
A week after that, a cheerful man in a dark suit, with greased-over black hair and a well groomed mustache, led a selection of burly goons to the gates of the nearest settlement. With a smile, the man with the mustache introduced himself as Mr. Bawkes. Would the denizens of the settlement, with its impressive walls and fortifications, perhaps be interested in purchasing some of the finest boxes to be had?
Origins: Immigrants
As best as can be determined, Mr. Bawkes originally hails from lands far to the north. Something about an "institute" has been overheard: perhaps this could explain the advanced box-making machinery that must exist within the Emporium's walls.
Trait: Adventurous
If half of the rumors about the mysterious maven are true, he immigrated a long way to build his boxes. Calling the man anything but adventurous would be foolish.
Background:
Care to purchase some boxes? All are available: humble cardboard, for the storage of food and water for your outpost! Wooden, for weapons and technology, and the transportation of goods! Metal, for the containment of ammunition! All these, and MORE, are available at Mr. Bawkes's Box Emporium and Boxing Solutions!
April stirred from his restless sleep from the soft glow of dawn. He stretched and swallowed, his parched throat itching him as he looked around. A cradle of roots above and below him had kept him and his sister safe through the night. He sighed, allowing himself a smile as he looked upon her. May slept soundly. She always did.
He couldn’t, not after what happened…
He quietly opened a sack, hoping to find some of Feb’s turkey jerky. Instead, there were a handful of old, knobby apples and a cob of corn with oversized, wizened kernels. His stomach growled. They ate the last of the jerky… many days ago. May started stirring. He needs to keep a strong face for her. April took out his knife, wiped it against his pants, and tried to peel one of the apples. He bit his lip as he nearly cut into his finger, but tried again, his fingers white as he tried to hold the surprisingly juicy fruit firm. As he finished, he carved a little Jack-face into the white flesh. Just like his father did.
He quietly woke May up and gave her the apple, smiling as she beamed and thanked him. She toothed at the fruit as he ate the shavings, his stomach complaining. That’s it? But it has to be. His mother told him… to head east to the rising sun, until they find a vault under the big lake filled with salty water. He’s not sure what a vault is, but he knows what it means. It meant safety - It meant his only chance to see his family again.
After May finishes, he helped her bury the apple core in a pile of old leaves. She giggled, waving her hands as she talked about how big the tree would be when they come back this way. On one hand, he hopes they never would. On the other… he hopes they would, with their family reunited. He laughed a little, and reminded her that she needed to whisper while they’re moving.
A few moments earlier…
“... and that’s why Granny Grubber would knock the socks off Davy Crockett, even with his atomic knife.” explained a man as he walked under the branch. He gave the appearance of stockiness, but if you paid attention you realized his shoulders can barely hold up his backpack, not to mention his oversized vest, marked with several badly stitched triangles.
“Marco stop,” said a taller, wiry man. He ducked under the branch and pointed, “We’re here.” Here, a pile of leaf mold that conceal a hollow under the broad roots, was the last camping spot they needed to inspect before the other half of the patrol packs up the tents and move out. The taller man stepped closer, remarking, “It looks disturbed.”
Marco chortled, “Of course it does! Always the optimist, eh?” Marco kneeled for a closer look, “Can’t be much more than a badger or something. No way someone tried to stay here overnight.” Marco stood up to step back, when he tripped on something unexpected. “Gah! Skittles!”
“What?” said Skittles, innocent.
“Don’t trip me!”
“What!? No, it was that hole!”
“Wha…” Marco lifted his foot to see a disturbed hole. A hidden disturbed hole. A hidden disturbed hole with a freshly eaten apple core in it. “By Granny’s Soup Pot…” He whirled, eyes scanning the ground.
A hushed whisper, “There!” a disturbed bit of dirt which, to the experienced raider, marked movement to the east. Marco un-holstered an old revolver. “Shouldn’t we tell Jelly?” asked Skittles as he quietly drew his sword. Neither of them knew what to expect.
Marco shook his head, “No, we’ll just get on their trail, see where they are or how far they’ve gone, *then* we’ll tell her. If we need to.” He held the gun next to his face and started striding out.
“Okayyy,” said Skittles, stepping after him.
Beyond the cover of the leaves, they knew, was a meadow broken with bushes, that eventually lead into a gully. Lots of light cover, but nowhere to really hide. They didn’t need to take all that effort, because they barely pushed the branches out of their faces, to see two small figures trying to sneak around the edge of the meadow. Very small.
“Are they kids?” wondered Skittles out loud as he crouched for some cover. “They look small.”
“Might just be short, or because they’re crouching.” said Marco, shifting uncomfortably in his cramped, crouched position.
They watched for a few more minutes.
“Hey listen, we’ll fall back to camp and get Jelly up here. The two of us can cover the ends of the gully, and she can take the meadow. They can’t run up the other side fast enough, so we’ll be able to pin them down.”
So that’s what they did.
“So watchyer names, boy?” asked the short, smelly man. Marco grinned and waved his loosely held revolver at the boy’s face.
The young boy kneeled in the wet stream where he slipped, his heart beating hard as he held May’s face tightly to his chest with one hand. In his other, shaky hand, he held a paring knife. “S… stay back.” he croaked, eyeing the other man. A big pine tree of a man, with a ridiculously long and thin sword. He looked back and forth as they splashed closer, so preoccupied that he didn’t spot the third raider.
“And I will take that, thank you.” said Jelly as she reached over his head and plucked the knife from April’s trembling fingers. April opened his mouth, but nothing came out. Is this the end? “You two hungry? We’ve got some soup left in pot.”
April’s mouth was as open as his hand. He wasn’t sure that he heard correctly. But May did, her head popped out from under his armpit, “Soup?” she asked.
Jelly grinned and nodded, “Yeppers! Turkey and taters.”
May squeezed her way through April’s arms and troddled after Jelly while the Marco and Skittles laughed. April’s arms dropped as he turned hesitantly, but May was already grabbing at Jelly’s open palm, inspecting it for the soup.
“It’s back at the camp. The name’s Marco, by the way. Marco Delta.”
“The best shape there is!” said Skittles, automatically. “I’m Skittles Delta.”
“And my…” began Jelly, (before she was interrupted by Marco’s “The best shape there is!”) She sighed and continued, “I’m Angelina Grubber, what’s your names?”
May looked a bit flustered by the shouting and looked down, but she was able to say, “May Flowers.”
April set his face. He’ll make the best of this… “And I’m April Showers.”
THE SIEGE OF GATORLAND. The terrifying reign of the Gatorlanders in Central Florida has been brought to an end. The combined forces of the Crusaders and Elias City have launched a coordinated campaign to stop their marauding and brutality once and for all. The campaign started when the two communities laid an ambushed outside of Gatorland for the raiders. The ambush was a great success, wiping out a large number of the raiders before they retreated into their fortress. For several months a siege continued, and seemed to be having little to no effect on the raiders as they simply stayed in and got high. With the siege not apparently working, the allies attacked the fortress directly using superior numbers to overwhelm the Gatorlanders at several points on the wall. Once the attackers made it over the walls, the battle was over in short order, as the chem-crazed raiders attacked and attacked the allies in the base, causing some damage within and destroying the old armorsmith. Ultimately they were wiped out to a man, though some claim that some of the Gatorlanders escaped over the walls and into the woods. The Crusaders have occupied the fortress and now fly the banners of both their own and Elias City on the walls.
Faction Reports
The 500
The group known as the 500 have met an inglorious end, as a disaster led to the ignition cores of several of their vehicles. The miniature nuclear detonations of the engine cores led to a cascade of destruction, as the vehicles were wiped out, along with most of the population. The few survivors of the community fought each other over the scarce remnants of supplies that remained, and the rest left, leaving behind the now somewhat irradiated speedway. The glory of the racetrack and the days of old is now lost forever as the ways of the Race are left behind by the survivors.
Alexandrite Archivists
Spoiler:
The Alexandrite Archivists continued efforts to protect and develop their home, and succeeded to an extent, building new fortifications. Unfortunately, they discovered a very dire threat to their homeland, as scouts sent out to the West Hills suburb were there to witness the arrival of a brutal raider tribe from the north. Calling themselves the “Kind Flayers” they have arrived in the area searching out bounty and tributes. The scouts avoided being attacked by the raiders, and managed to scout out the area without any difficulty.

Lead Archivist’s Challenge
The Kind Flayers have sent an emissary demanding tribute from us, demanding 500 Food, Water, and Ammunition before they move along. Some of our people believe we should refuse payment, but others think that if we offer tribute, we could avoid combat and loss of life. How do we respond to this demand?
Arsenic Hounds
Spoiler:
The Arsenic Hounds decided that it was time to take care of the Contractors after the recent threats and demands made. They provided a tribute of poisoned food and a handful of assets from the recently overrun community at Putney. Shortly after, they attempted to send in infiltrators disguised as deserters from among the crew of the Arsenic Hounds. Unfortunately, the Contractors weren’t interested in recruitment, and most of the Arsenic Hounds ended up going straight into the stewpot. When the night of the attack came, the Contractors were not caught off guard, and one of their scouts actually spotted the approaching Hounds. An ambush was laid by the gates, and dynamite was used to devastate the Arsenic Hounds as they tried to attack, causing extensive casualties among the raiders. With devastating small arms fire from the walls and a constant bombardment of explosives, the Arsenic Hounds were forced to retreat. It’s clear that the fighting in the area will only escalate from here.

The Boys in Blue
Spoiler:
The Boys in Blue have begun scouting the surrounding the area to determine what needs to be done in the good work of liberation. A task force was sent across the bay to Naval Air Station Pensacola, only to find that the base’s automated defenses were still almost completely intact. Robots and automatic turrets immediately turned upon the scouts, leading to a few deaths before they could retreat. Another canoe was sent down Santa Rosa Sound, looking for an intact bridge to the mainland. They were eventually successful, finding that the Navarre Beach Bridge was still usable. A large expedition was sent to Pensacola beach, where they found a few small mirelurk nests. The nests were easily taken care of and the creatures destroyed by those sent. However, not much could be found there, only a handful of buildings with some minor bits of technology left.

General’s Challenge
With some downtime recently in the fort, some people have gotten heavily involved in gambling games with dice and cards. Citrus City
Spoiler:
The arrival of the Crystal Crocs dominated all other topics of conversation in Citrus City as this year began. Faced with a demand of tribute, Citrus City instead chose to fight, calling for support from Essarqu and Bradenton to aid them in the time of need. The two towns begrudgingly sent support, knowing that they would be next on the menu should the Crystal Crocs triumph. As reinforcement arrived, Citrus City launched the first strikes against the Crocs. A small detachment, using Stealth Boys, snuck into the Crystal Croc encampment and successfully managed to trigger an explosion among the ammunition stockpile of the raiders. This wiped out their ammunition and heavy weapons, evening the odds as well as started several fires in the encampment. Attempts to assassinate the Crocs’ leader failed, causing some of the scouts to be caught and killed. The Crocs were immediately outraged and began their march against Citrus City. Efforts to delay them using horse-mounted scouts failed, and the scouts were overrun by the furious raiders. When the raiders did arrive at last at Citrus City, defenses were only somewhat prepared and the fight was more of an open battle than a siege or attack. The scene was almost like one from hundreds of years ago as swords clashed and arrows flew, only punctuated by sporadic small-arms fire from the towns’ militias. Thanks to the superior firepower of the defense, the Crystal Crocs were smashed and defeated. With most of their leaders killed in the battle, the remaining raiders fled, and quite a few of the slaves escaped and joined up with Citrus City. The remaining stockpiles of the Crystal Crocs were left undefended and were quickly seized by the tribesmen.

The Fox’s Challenge
We’ve received a massive influx of new people from the collapsed Crystal Crocs’ old slaves. They never passed any of our methods of typical immigration, but we have yet to turn them away. With so many of them it was next to impossible to process them normally, and some have called for these nearly two hundred new people to be sent on to Bradenton or Essarqu rather than to be allowed to stay with us. How do we handle all of these new people in our ranks?
Crusaders of the Holy Land
Spoiler:
The siege of Gatorland took up nearly all of the resources of the mighty Crusaders of the Holy Land over the first half of this year. The departure of the Crusading Legion left the Holy Land itself woefully undefended, but it proved to be a gamble that paid off. The Crusaders have become the primary occupying force of Gatorland, and there is substantial debate over the fate of the seized weapons and the fortress itself, as some Crusaders are still unconvinced about the piety of the people of Elias City.

How do we respond to this debate and the pressure from the clergy?
Elias City Representatives
Spoiler:
The people of Elias City have been spurred into action by recent revelations that the bulk of the attackers last year were actually enslaved wanderers and tribesmen forced to attack at the behest of the Gatorlanders. This infuriated many, and there was no shortage of volunteers to join in the attack on Gatorland. Only a few could join the Crusaders however and most stayed home gathering scrap and eagerly waiting for the latest news from the siege. A new water filter was also constructed to supplement the water station with supplies.

Fair Play Inns
Spoiler:
The Fair Play Inns and their associated raider companies have made significant progress as the year has begun. They finished the scavenging of Gumlog, to the point that it was clear that nothing more would be found there. Fortunately, they found a hidden cache, probably left by a raider, of assault rifles buried underneath a ruin. The guns were added to the stockpile. Plenty of hunting and gathering of herbs also took place, helping to feed the numerous raider clans in the area.
Scouts were also sent out to explore and mark new places for raiding and salvage. A small party sent along the Savannah River found nothing, turning back after reaching the collapsed ruins of Interstate 85. A significantly larger expedition was sent north, to scout out the ruins of older towns in the area. For the first leg of their trip, they were hunted by wolves, which dragged off unwary sentries during the night from the rest of the group near Avalon. They did however find some old technology in those ruins, making the losses worth it. The wolves continued to pursue the group until they reached Eastanollee, where they began to keep their distance. In Toccoa, the party found no signs of any wildlife at all, but an abundance of vines and plants. A small number of the party simply went missing, only to have their clothes and weapons found without a trace of the person themselves. Creeped out by this development, the rest immediately turned east and began following the Savannah River home, finding nothing else of interest on the way.
A major southern expedition was also sent out. They first ran into trouble in Lavonia, where a hive of giant ants was nested. These vicious critters attacked without provocation, launching hit and run raids before retreating underground. The raiders did their best to defend themselves, but suffered losses in the process. To make matters worse, they found nothing of use in the ruins. They continued down the remains of the old Interstate 85, coming next to Carnesville, running into yet another hive of giant ants. The fighting here was even more brutal, costing the lives of more of the expedition, and sending them on their way before they could do any searching for treasure. The expedition couldn’t relax until they reached Ashland, where they found a large stockpile of old weaponry. Half of the remaining expedition was wiped out when they reached commerce, finding yet another hive of giant ants bent on their destruction. The few who survived fled back home, quickly bypassing the discovered hives on the way.

Folkston
Spoiler:
The people of Folkston have continued to work hard to keep their community running and the people safe. A new series of reinforcements to the walls have been built, and a water filter construction to keep water clean. Homeland continues to be stripped of anything of value, and still plenty remains in the homes and buildings of the old suburb. Despite these successes, there was some tragedy as the year continued. An expedition sent up to an old prison found that the prison had been turned into a hive of giant honey bees. The facility was covered in bee-produced hive and honey and when approached the bees chased off the scouts, even killing a number of them. They still returned after the scouts left the area.

The Grackles
Spoiler:
The Grackles, seeking to learn their place in the world, have sent out multiple expeditions to find and bring back any supplies and equipment of note. The first of these expeditions was sent to the ruins of Alva, and they faced a grave ambush on the way. The expedition was spotted and attacked by a group of raiders based in the ruins. The raiders, calling themselves the Brass Lions, outnumbered and outgunned the expedition, slaughtering or capturing most of the tribesmen. The remainder retreated back to the tribe’s encampment in Labelle. The presence of these raiders explained why the expedition to Lehigh Acres found the signs of a destroyed settlement, and brought back the few remains of the stockpiles there. The third expedition was sent to Felda, where they found a still prospering community, which confirmed that first they were hit by the Brass Lions, but that they had also clashed with a group called the Crystal Crocs, leaving them short on weapons and supplies. A last expedition to the southeast came across a series of open fields that were once a ranch, and the entire fields were full of what could only be described as zombie cows. The cows charged the expedition and began eating those they caught. The rest of the party made a quick retreat. A final smaller expedition was sent to Palmdale, which turned out to be a handful of building sinking into a rapidly expanding marsh, with no sign of any local residents or wildlife. They found nothing of use in the ruins.

Some of our people suggest that we temporarily give into their demands and survive. Others believe that by giving them anything, they will almost certainly come back for more and more. How do we respond to these demands of tribute?
Guards of the Coast
Spoiler:
The Guards of the Coast have been busy on the home front, with a quiet start to the year. They have focused on continuing the scavenging of Stock Island, bringing back plenty of scrap for construction. They have used much of this to build new water filters to help keep the Guards hydrated. A scavenging team was also sent east to Rockland and Big Coppit Keys, but they found that the town of Neuquex had long since taken everything of useable value from the ruins and marshes there for their own community. The expedition was brought home empty-handed. Thankfully, at least some of the tension of the moment was eased when Neuquex granted the Guards some food and water to aid them.

Admiral’s Challenge
The islands seem to rapidly be approaching a point where it’s no longer sustainable to build the new facilities we need to survive and thrive. Some have suggested an armed expedition up the west coast of the mainland, to find any surviving communities. They state that the only chance we have is to seize one of these communities or negotiate with them to annex them directly, giving us a base on the mainland to gather the scrap and equipment we need. How do we respond to this proposal?
Hermetic Order of the Drowned Temple
Spoiler:
The Hermetic Order, having secured its borders and supply lines with neighboring cities, has sent out a long-ranging southern expedition, seeking to determine the lay of the land beyond the Port St. Lucie area. The suburb of Arundul was the first step, and it was found to be completely abandoned. There was some sign that a settlement once existed there, but was overrun by an unknown enemy. They managed to continue on until reaching Jupiter, where they found a very large band of raiders, dwarfing the Shark-Tooth Grin Clan in size. The scouts were able to avoid contact, noting that these raiders, calling themselves the Great Whites, were keeping a close eye on the old Interstate 95, watching for any weak travelers or parties. Passing through Palm Beach Gardens, they found the area heavily infested with that old Florida threat, alligators. They were easy to avoid, assuming the scouts avoided the nests. Here they found a truck full of technological parts that were easily taken. In Palm Beach proper, they were astonished to find a surprisingly complex and massive hostile ecosystem. The old buildings were covered in plant-life and large jungle cats prowled within. Other large animals could be heard, but after losing half of their party to cats and hazards, the rest of the scouts returned north.

Dame’s Challenge
One of our scouts from the south returned with a strange bobblehead he found in an old museum, belonging to the old company “Vault-Tec” from before the Great War. This has spurred a collecting craze among our scavengers, looking for these trinkets. Some of our leadership feels as though this hunt may detract from finding actually useful items and believes that we should forbid it. How do we respond to this issue?
The Lordship of San Marcos
Spoiler:
The Lordship of San Marcos has struck out into the wasteland to visit the raider band located at Vermont Heights known as the Rattlers. They offered a chance for the raiders to join them, assuming they could provide food for everyone, but the Rattlers simply attacked the power-armored soldiers and brought about their own destruction. The weapons and gear available to the Rattlers proved useless against the full force of a power armored detachment. Not a single knight of San Marcos was injured in the battle, while the entire Rattler encampment was wiped out. All of the remaining supplies and equipment belonging to the Rattlers was returned to San Marcos, including a large bounty of food and water. The majority of the old raider encampment was destroyed in the fighting, and little else could be salvaged besides their gear.

The defeat of the Rattlers has led to a debate. While it’s obvious that perhaps all of the captured supplies should be shared equally, some of our soldiers who participated in the raid, using our own medieval books for inspiration, claim that they should individually be given a greater share of the spoils, namely the guns recovered as trophies. Should we give up the guns to our individual soldiers as trophies or keep them in the armory, or perhaps there is another solution?
Nuclear Dragon Clan
Spoiler:
The people of Nuclear Dragon Clan faced issues when the Emperor cracked down on those making jokes about the new ceremonies and traditions being established. Those who poked fun at the new traditions were flogged viciously in punishment for their crimes and disrespect of the Emperor. Some new residents were a bit concerned about this development, but have kept quiet. More distraction was had with the launch of a major expedition to Boca Raton airport, to recover as much scrap as possible. This led to conflict with the local mirelurks, and the expedition wiped a good amount of the creatures out through sheer firepower but not without losses. They found little else of interest besides some materials useful in construction.

Still, some of the Emperor’s advisors are concerned about the influence he may be gathering. The minister simply claims that he wishes to provide guidance and a place of worship for people of all faiths. How do we respond to this issue?
Poxxy’s Chem Dogs
Spoiler:
Poxxy’s Chem Dogs have begun a campaign of terror and looting in the Winter Haven area. While many of the slaves and raiders have been focused on finding any scrap of value in Winter Haven itself, others have been sent to raid the neighboring town of Waverly. Lurking on the outskirts of town, the Chem Dogs were easily able to pick off a good number of farmers and traders. They even ambushed an ammunition shipment meant for a Vault 404 not far away. The ammo and slaves captured helped make up for the other losses in supplies in terrorizing the town.
The Chem Dogs also sent an expedition west towards Lakeland to see if they could find any other recruits or settlements to raid. In Jan Phyl Village they found a small outpost of what the people of Waverly called “super mutants,” large green humanoid creatures. They were severely outnumbered, so the Chem Dogs attacked and managed to defeat them, stealing their weapons, but at a cost. Lakeland and the immediate surrounding area from which the Chem Dogs approached appeared to be empty, but they did find several small ruined settlements, which looked like they had been wiped out by an unknown force, possibly in the past couple of years. One of the settlements had a small supply of technological parts that was promptly stolen.

Governor’s Challenge
We have had no luck in scavenging for the parts we need to build stuff to feed ourselves. Our only hope now is to venture further out into the wasteland to seek out supplies. Unfortunately, the merchant who had been offering us a reprieve has vanished and we have only one, unappetizing choice left. By cannibalizing half of the population and any travelers that wander nearby, the other half of our people will live another six months. This may give us the time we need to gather the technology to build more sustainable sources of food and water. How do we respond to this suggestion?
The Revenant Corps
The Great War sent many American military units in the Southeast scrambling for cover in their bunkers, and the troops stationed at Dobbins Air Reserve Base were no exception. They managed to survive the blasts hitting the Atlanta area and took shelter until they determined that it was all clear of localized radiation. The Revenant Corps takes its name from the belief that the bunker's inhabitants are the last true remnants of the American military command structure, and are thus revenants walking the wasteland. The Corps has taken its first steps into the Wasteland in order to secure pre-war technology.
Spoiler:
Captain-General’s Challenge:
Our sensors indicate that there are plenty of people out there looking for food, shelter, and safety from the anarchy of the wasteland. Some will ultimately want to join us and so we must make a decision. What would be the fate of those who come to our doorstep looking for charity?
Sons of Hope
Spoiler:
The Sons of Hope have begun exploring their immediate area, leaving the bunker at last and looking for any signs of survivors and anything that could be useful to begin rebuilding society. Thankfully the area immediately around San Carlos Park seems to be mostly abandoned, though a few small homesteads were found to exist, mainly keeping their distance from the Sons. A small scouting party sent into Estero found instead a horrifying series of nests of a highly mutated, crab-like sea creature, which the local survivors called mirelurks. The creatures were hostile on sight and pursued the scouts until they withdrew to the bunker.

A local person from outside of the bunker claims to represent a series of isolated single farmsteads and homes throughout the area. He states that he and several others would act as guides to the mirelurk nests in Estero if we provide the manpower and weapons to wipe them out. He says that the mirelurks tend to raid north for food and that we would be doing ourselves a favor by helping. Some of our advisors believe that this man could be leading us into a trap or trying to draw us out of the bunker for an ambush. How do we respond to this proposal?
Stake of Monticello
Spoiler:
After facing annihilation and now de facto enslavement at the hands of the Copper Angels, the Mormons of Monticello have decided to flee south towards another land with the same name. Packing up all of their supplies and the few remaining weapons they possessed, they left, certain that the Copper Angels would be in pursuit. They fled across the Piedmont National Wildlife Refuge, and to the tiny ruins of Juliette, where they found the remains of multiple massive internment camps, full of ancient ghouls. Several guards were lost, but it was realized that the ghouls were unable to leave their camps, despite the large numbers, and the Mormons managed to evade further losses, taking some old rifles from the arsenal of one of the camps.
As the exodus reached the outskirts of Macon, they first entered Bolingbroke, where creatures with the face of death and massive claws descended upon them. Many were injured and killed in the fighting, as the group was severely outmatched in the journey. The group fled from the area as quickly as they could, pushing south. In West Oak, the Mormons found themselves become prey as a large pack or packs of wolves hunted their scouts and anyone foolish enough to leave the encampment at night. They stuck close and clung to the fires as the howls around them frightened child and adult alike. Thankfully only a few were lost to the wolf attacks.
Wolf attacks continued even after they left the area and in the Byron area is sounded as though more wolves were present, and having learnt the lessons of West Oak, the Mormons avoided attack. Leaving those wolves behind, as they journeyed south through Perry to Umadilla, they found no signs of any life, not even monsters or ghouls. They did however find a small amount of technological parts in Umadilla in an old truck off of the highway. Shortly after they found a small refuge at last, as the small farming community of Pinehurst welcomed them, and allowed them to stay outside of the walls for a brief time. Pinehurst even sold the Mormons some ammunition in exchange for food and water. In seemed that they were in a somewhat civilized area as the neighboring town of Vienna also welcomed the Mormons for a brief time.
This respite was only temporary as the Mormons continued their flight, running into the ruins of Cordele. Here they were met with a horrifying sight, multiple birds the size of pre-war buses. They would swoop down on the expedition, and firearms seemed to do nothing to them. Only a small one was brought down by a large amount of sustained fire. The birds would continue to pluck a Mormon out of the encampment with impunity, taking them off god knows where, before they could flee. They only barely escaped, constantly harassed by the giant birds nearly all the way to Sylvester. The blighted Mormons named the creatures “rocs” based on some legends once read in a book. Thankfully these small towns proved to have a boon of small guns and technology that were easily salvaged by the Mormons.
In Sylvester, the Mormons could hear a lot of sustained gunfire to the west, and were encouraged to move along promptly, despite having found what appeared to be a ruined settlement that had been destroyed in a battle, but otherwise was a safe encampment. They found more safety in Alfords, which was a safe town, though they spoke of a vicious band of raiders to the west known as the Thunder Demons to whom they had bene paying tribute. The town warned the Mormons to move quickly before the raiders could return. As they did, they arrived in the ruins of Bridgeboro, where they were stalked by an unknown creature. People scouting would just go silently missing, without even a scream to mark their passing, and only blood would be found. Only a handful were lost, but it was enough to move them along.
As the Mormons approached Florida, they were beset by vicious bloodbugs, easy to kill, but sneaky. They managed to kill several weaker members of the exodus, draining them of blood. Still, they found some more technology in the ruins of Hartsfield. In Thomasville, they would find even more rifles in an abandoned gun shop. At last they crossed the old Florida-Georgia state line and it was not long before they reached Monticello. Unfortunately, they found that the region was worthless for farming, the ground dead and toxic. They cleared out the bloodbugs locally fairly easily, but nothing truly remained of the old town, the ruins long since picked clean, a dire ending to a lengthy journey.

Overseer’s Challenge
We have fled hundreds of miles from our tormentors, but the land we have arrived at is barren and worthless for farming. Our exhausted people now wonder, what now?
Vault 99
Vault 99 was one of the few fortunate “control vaults” which lacked a known experiment conducted by Vault Tec. Meant to function exactly as designed, this vault actually possessed all of the amenities other vaults only claimed to have. At least, that’s what the Overseer was told.
Spoiler:
Overseer’s Challenge
When we at last open the door to explore the wasteland, there will doubtless be hundreds of people looking to join us in the safety of the vault. Some of these people culd be spies, raiders, or saboteurs, but others could be legitimately looking for just a nice place to live. How do we deal with these would-be immigrants?
Vault 117
Spoiler:
The people of Vault 117 have descended upon the surrounding wasteland like locusts upon a field of crops. Literally thousands have poured out of the vault seeking out supplies and equipment with which to reinforce the vault’s defenses and stockpiles. Through sheer numbers they have overpowered the worst of the creatures and animals lurking in the towns around Stone Mountain. In Smoke Rise, Rockbridge, Arbor Ridge, and Mountain Park, they overwhelmed a massive series of hives of giant ants, using their own wave tactics against them. The ants were smashed, and the towns looted. In Redan, giant birds attacked the massive salvage operation, and slowly but surely they were wore down, as the beasts were brought down in their predictable hit and run attacks, but not without substantial losses. The losses were rewarded when they found intact supplies of machining gear in an old abandoned, but still intact, factory. In Lithonia, a small amount of ghouls also caused trouble, but once again, using traps and improvised weapons, the expedition managed to deal with them.
Beyond the large-scale scouting taking place in the immediate area surrounding Stone Mountain, other smaller parties were sent out to some other major ruins in the area. A scouting expedition to Conyers reported a large wolf pack operating in the area, but no other hostiles. They came back with a surprisingly large amount of technology parts and even some laser weapons retrieved from an abandoned National Guard encampment. The Snellville expedition had similar luck, saying that the ruins were empty, and also managed to return with some laser weapons left behind by an abandoned Guard outpost. The expeditions to Atlanta, Tucker, and Decatur failed to return at all.

To our horror, every single would-be immigrant has turned out to have significant genetic deviations based on the vault’s scanners. It could be that we are the only true humans remaining in the wasteland. We of course have put the new recruits hard at work, and despite our readings, they do appear human. This has given some of our population some concern, and there is a risk of fraternization. What do we do about this new discovery?
Vault 299
Spoiler:
The vault dwellers of Vault 299 have continued their efforts to disassemble any useful materials from the ruins of Tavernier. Large teams were sent out to undertake this tedious but necessary work. To distract themselves, some people turned to pitting captured ghouls against each other to fight to the death for entertainment. When these diversions were discovered, the Overseer had the ghouls put down and the perpetrators imprisoned in the vault jail temporarily. This caused some muttering among the dwellers, just seeking out entertainment.

The town of Tavernier can’t have too much left after all of the work we’ve been putting in there. Ideally, a settlement or something could be established on the mainland to act as a colony to provide us with materials for development. How do we respond to this proposal?
Vault 323
Spoiler:
Vault 323 has continue making strides into exploring Southeast Florida. They returned to Davie, braving the ghouls at a local casino and armory, only to lose a large part of the expedition and find nothing but scrap the entire time. Another expedition went east to try and cross the Intercoastal Waterway. They found a bridge intact near Dania Beach, but that wasn’t all. As they crossed the bridge they noticed several incredibly large ships offloading a number of vicious warriors, who attacked a couple of homesteads created by local farmers. When they spotted the vault dwellers they pursued, waving curved swords and chasing them. These strange people wore unusual garb and spoke a language like nothing ever heard before. The best that the dwellers could tell, they called themselves the Muharibs.
On the home front, one of the more capable vault dwellers was sent out to track down the charlatan who tricked the vault out of supplies last year. Unfortunately he returned to the vault after several months of searching with no information or intelligence on the thief’s identity. Better news was had as Vault 323 opened the Sunshine Wasteland’s first fully staffed and equipped clinic, providing the vault with the best healthcare in the Sunshine Wasteland. It is hoped that these new facilities will help the people of the vault keep up the good healthcare and lifestyle they’ve enjoyed since the Great War began long ago. The clinic has also begun trial studies to determine what could be making people from the wasteland sick from the vault’s produced food.

Overseer’s Challenge
Our analysis of our food and the people who’ve become sick is shocking. We’ve discovered severe genetic abnormalities in nearly everyone from outside of the vault, to the point that some of our scientists can barely call them human, despite appearances. They have clearly experienced significant mutations from ambient radiation in the air over the decades. Some of our scientists believe we should institute strict rules against breeding between vault dwellers and the outsiders, as it could contaminate the only pure strain of humanity left in this world. How do we respond to this discovery?
Vault 404
Spoiler:
The people of Vault 404 have begun truly preparing themselves for the future as they initiate some long-term programs and construction. A forge was established, and powerful new crossbows, made out of old designs found in books in the vault were produced in large amounts to replace guns which they were quickly running short of ammunition for. Also, using tools they had found in previous expeditions, they constructed a well-designed still for the creation of alcohol for trade and recreation. They’ve also begun handing out excess food to travelers and wanderers in the wasteland, looking for information or new recruits.
Multiple expeditions were sent out to explore nearby major towns for potential salvage sites. One was sent towards Bartow, but on the way they had to pass through Lake Wales, which proved to be home to literal swarms of bloodbugs. Only Overseer Moore came back from that expedition, with the Mr. Gutsys in tow, having lost the rest of the expedition to these giant mutated mosquitoes, which would cooperatively drain a person of blood in mere minutes. A second expedition went south, and found the friendly community of Frostproof. Small in size, but still apparently adhering to American values, they let the vault dwellers camp nearby. When they learned that the expedition was headed towards Avon Park, they offered a dire warning, saying that the area was full of what they called “Gatorclaws,” bipedal creatures with the heads of alligators usually standing nine to ten feet in height and incredibly aggressive to intruders. The expedition confirmed this before returning home.
A small group of vault dwellers undertook an even more dangerous expedition, heading out to visit the “super mutants” in the west. They left food outside of the encampment, and watched as the super mutants took it back into their citadel. Nothing else happened, but the dwellers were thankful that there was no apparent pursuit as they returned home.
Other grave words arose from the west, as the town of Waverly reported that it was being constantly attacked by a new band of raiders who were preying upon its people leaving the community. This group called “poxxy’s raiders” is clearly making life miserable for the town, and the farms go fallow as the community struggles to survive.

Our mass production of alcohol has led to some unpleasantness in the vault. A good amount of our alcohol has gone astray, as it’s clear that someone has taken it for their own commercial enterprise. Rumors abound of a “speakeasy” somewhere in the lower levels of the vault, as the stolen liquor is sold to our people. How do we respond to this issue?
War Eagles
They say violence begets violence, and nowhere is that more true than among raider gangs. While originally forged out of several defeated raider clans, the differences and strife proved too much to hold things together. The clans began fighting each other over the scraps they had taken and the few chems remaining. Amid all of this chaos, the slaves rebelled, creating another faction in the blood battle that emerged. Within no more than forty-eight hours of the initial bloodshed and fistfight that had started it all, the War Eagles were no more. The few survivors of the group fled into the wasteland to start raiding anew or trying to escape servitude once and for all.

After some more Discord brainstorming, I have determined to implement Alcohol into the game. They provide significantly smaller bonus to combat than Chems, but function in the same basic manner. Alcohol can be produced with a Still structure. Alcohol can also be used as a substitute for Ammunition in creating explosives. With the proper structures, down the line it can also be used to make Energy. Enjoy your drinks!
Please make sure you refresh yourselves on structure/item prices before sending in orders for this turn, as there have been some other changes.
@Ahigin: Water cannot be gathered. Water as a stat doesn’t just represent any and all water, it represents clean water that won’t kill you via radiation or disease. Also that golf course is already within the immediate area of your main encampment, so it just counted as local scrap gathering.
@NinjaCow and Seon, I have given all of the spoils of the Gatorlander campaign to the Crusaders, as they provided the most of the troops needed for the effort. It’s on you to divide it as is, though I am assuming that a Elias City detachment remains in Gatorland.
