I find Zarathrustaism kind of bad since it has only 4 buildings and lowest bonuses?

My only questions is, why do Kemetism, Zoroastrian, and Judaism only allow 2 missionaries, even for early religions, its not like you're allowed to put them out right away unless you adopt State Church or research Meditation for monasteries.

the reason is historical and RoM historical. When RoM was first written it tried to use religion spread as in the Eusebius World Religion mod which meant that you did not need missionaries at all to spread religion. However it did not work well and RoM went back to the way religion spreads in CiV IV. The number of missionaries in Civ was supposed to be based on the missionary history of the various religions.

IDK about the rest of you, but I hate the Missionary Limit. I'd rather they cost +1 gold, or something else. Being limited to 3 on a large map really sucks.

Speaking of missionaries, I wish they'd add Mormonism -- talk about having to raise the limit!

Mormonism is a very variant branch of Christianity. If they're going to add any entirely new religions, Asatru (Nordic) and Shinto (Japanese) would be far better choices.

I'd happily have an increasing cost for missionaries, but no hard limit. Those who don't use them much won't notice and those who do will be grateful enough to not care :)

Both Asatru and Shinto are available in my/AAranda's religion mod. See my sig.

Except I like the limit because I can build all of them and thus reduce the number of units showing up in the lists. In fact I build all the national units just to get them out of the lists:crazyeye:.

In RoM all religious buildings increase the rate how fast religion spreads so it's not the same system as in BtS. In BtS the religions have all the same static spread value and you can use missionaries - in RoM it matters more how many religious buildings you make and what kind of agreements you have with your neighbours and missionaries should be used to start the initial spread to new continent's etc.

Well, the real problem is that once a city gets 1 religion, all the spread rate in the world can't get it another one. It took SDK magic to get past that.

am i to understand that in and cities can get more than 1 religion by "natural" spread?

In 1.74 there will be an option in the BUG menu to allow more than 1 to spread, yes. It's not in the official releases yet.

I find that religions, at least early ones, spread pretty fast without missionaries anyway and that newer religions don't even stand a chance against older ones.

Welcome back, general.

Thank you.

My opinion is that Zoroastrianism is the weakest, simply due to the fact that it does not have a wonder. I also think that Confucianism is the strongest due to the +1 Gold per city with it and the fact that it is quicker to found that Islam.

Doing the arrogant thing and quoting myself. I found art for a Zoroastrian wonder, which will allow me to add a wonder for that religion. I think that will help balance out that religion so that it is not "weak."

Hindu has the best wonder. Ra's 3 Nationals are also really nice. Especially since each gives 10% more culture, totally 30% and they are national, so AI can't lock you out.

If you add in AAranda's religions or just his updates to the standard religions you will get more and unique wonders per religion.

hellenism is the absolute best. the holy building gives 1 research instead of 1 gold per city, and the best part is the free pankration promotion from monasteries - one of the best promotions in the game with big bonuses against just about all unit types.
