Best and whorst neighbour in civ IV

I have just finnished a game on monarch. I Won a space race victory. In the beginning Hapaseput was my neighbour together with Victoria and Bismark, I started a war against Hapaseput and Alexander anouther civ on my continent went at war with here aswell. I mannage to capture two holy citys from Hapaseput together with the pyramides and stoneage. So here I where with my new Neighbour Alexander the greate. In the begining I had no problem with him becouse of the plus reputation i've gaind during two was, first against Hapaseput and second Bismark. but later...

I had a hell of a fight to keep up in techs but when I started to make some monney for science the techs started to go forward. I never had any problems with Vicky, nether where Bismark a problem, I bribed my war buddy Alex to go at war against bismark. Alex went to war against him ofcours and I took three citys from him with my glourius Cossacs.

in the late mid game and end game Alexander became a big problem. he was a good buddy with Saladin at his north and bismark was to far awar from he's empier to the east so that let him in only one posibility to expand, and that was thowards me though war. he mannage to build extreamly many soilders and space parts.

during Alexs rearmament I produced space parts in my productive citys and was letting my comerc citys build army, and in monarch level this kind off play stile ended up with alex having an firty % advantege during the first war and an thirty % advantege during the secund. I manage to keep alex away from me the first war and even capured a city from him. in the secund war though i kicked hes but after he attacked me, rasing a couple of citys together with capure some from him.

All together alex was good becouse without him I could never have manage to kill hapaseput and capure some of bismark's citys. but he is shore not good to have as a neighbour.

So what do you think. who is the whorst and best neighbour in Civ IV.

As good neighbour i vote Mansa Musa.
and as bad neghbour i vote Alex, he love military above all, he is just crazy.

Worst Neighbor in my mind is Montezuma. We usually end up as different religions and you KNOW he's going to come after you. If you are in a mood to build, you can forget it with him....

Best neighbor has lots of options. In my last 2 games, I had Mehmed and Saladin. One in each game. I was fortunate to convert them to my religion and they sided with me all game. Saladin was no pushover military-wise and still asked to become my vassal. He eventually left because he captured a Shaka city, sending him past the limit, but whatever. He was great to have.
This one could vary to anyone.

I agree that Monty is the worst neighbor, mostly because you miss out on the chance to sink all his ships full of troops if he invades by sea instead . And he won't have many interesting techs to trade.

With Montsy as your neighbour, better not declare state religion that is different from his even you've found your own. Raise your power ranking. When he asks yo for tribute accept it till you are ready. Once you have enough axes then go kill him.

If I play those Egyptian leaders (so with war chariots) or Cyrus, I'll just finish him off right away.

I hate all leaders starting with hunting, they will just take out all my goodies. Out of them Alex is the worst for his backstabbing habbit. The two French leaders are also annoying but I can just finish them off. Augustus can be a pain because of his creative trait and later his UU.

It's nice to have Hutsy as my neighbour. The good thing if you play SP is, she doesn't realize she can be one of the best early rushers in the game.

Monty is the friggin nutjob civ from hell. He's like a telemarketer with his crying at me every single turn, "I demand that you cancel deals with ___." He makes me nuts.

Mansa is so nose to the tech stone that he's a good neighbor. Also the quite guys like Ghandi or Asoka aren't bad. Hatty is my favorite ally and neighbor though

The best neighbour is no neighbour. I prefer to comandeer their cities.

Hatty's a real pain if you share borders with her, with all that culture.

I have to agree on Ghandi.

In my latest game we waren't neighbours but he was werry kind, i played a continental map and started with a big iland for myself and when the outher civs came over for first visit ghandi came as secund. I was behind in techs so bad at this point and when i pressed end turn button ghandi came up and asked me if HBR could be of any use. this is a good person indeed, I dident ask him, he just gave me HBR for being so back behinde.
