Hi gang,

This has been an all around really awful week. Yes, Biden will probably win it (thank god) but at the cost of the most nauseating four days in recent history.

In this clouded, confused, and tumultuous time, please let me share some beautiful news from my corner of the nation.

We in Washington decided to have a gubernatorial election this year. Jay Inslee, the incumbent has served two terms so far, and decided to run for a rare third term. This is allowed in Washington. Inslee is a generally popular fella, you probably remember him as "the climate guy" during the jungle primary a few months back.

Inslee was popular amongst Democrats, who tend to make up the majority of our small state. Republicans however don't really care for him, mostly because of past issues around guns, and the coronavirus shutdowns.

Back in August the Republican party had their primary. I don't know for sure, but they had some 25 candidates battling it out. Some fairly realistic and possible candidates were included, but the winner was Loren Culp.

Loren Culp was the chief of Police of Republic, Washington. Republic is an entirely irrelevant town in the North East of the state, a pretty much empty place with some really nice natural scenery. The Police Department of Republic, WA, only had two members: Chief Culp and a german shepherd.

Loren Culp spent about 9 months or so touring the state, campaigning, raising funds, and generally being a candidate for governor. He's pretty famous for being a "mini-Trump" in almost every way imaginable, holding "no mask" rallies across the state, constantly, and fighting against anything the government has done to fight the pandemic at all.

In this time, Republic realized that a one man police department was kinda expensive, and not all that helpful when that one man is off campaigning all year. So Republic did what most small towns usually do, they voted to close their police station, fire Culp, and contract their police services with Ferry County Sheriff's Office.

So last Tuesday night, not only did Loren Culp lose his election by a massive number of votes, he also lost his only claim to fame, his Chiefship.

Who cares about that guy?

But what about the dog? What's he going to live on?
