Best ever optical illusion

I don't know, but FWIW I can do it too, with an effort of will.

This isn't really a subject I know alot about - it's just that I read an article about schizophrenics and their ability to "see thru" certain kinds of optical illusions a while ago.
Yeah, I can make it stop too, by concentrating like on those "magic eye" images.

TLC, if you know so much about this, what does it signify that I can make the image stand still? Extreme focusing ability? Wierd eyes?

I don't really know. I can make part of it stand still by focusing on it, and I can make all of it stand still by focusing on nothing in particular and squinting slightly, with a little effort.

I have a severe form of Asperger's Syndrome.
It would not surprise me if that's related.

Just out of curiosity, do you see Corlindale's picture as static? If not, can you make yourself see it as static?

Chuckhi, if you move your eyes around on the circles do they start to move a bit in the periphery?

Mathilda, that's my favourite too - an oldie but a goodie!

I think I've read that people with Asperger's have much greater sensory perception. When we see the image move, it's because our minds doesn't register all nuances of the colours at once(I think).

Chuckhi, try this one: http://www.ritsumei.ac.jp/~akitaoka/saishin-e.html - scroll down to the first thing that fills up the screen just below the text "the "eyes" of a chameleon appear to rotate."

The big blue/yellow/white circles (too big to post) - I see serious movement in that, in fact I can't make it stand still.

edit - I can make it stand still only if I focus on something behind or in front of the screen.

Gonna try to post the images anyway:

I enjoy Mathilda's every time I see it. It's just plain freaky.

Edit: TLC (or anyone else): Do you have a link to an article or something explaining the link between optical illusions and schizophrenia, etc.? Sounds interesting.

Can't see any movement on that one.
Congradulations! Your eyes see the truth better than the rest of us! :goodjob:

I cannot see a boat on the background... :(

The correct question is what am I supposed to look for? Words? There's something to read in the picture. Man, let me look it over. Nope, can't find anything.

In line with the topic: A professor in my Human and Machine Vision course brought up this picture. She was doing a study and I have always found this interesting.

Which face is more feminine?

This was so good I had to post it for you all to see and try.
In the picture below squares A and B are the same colour.

Don't beleive it?
Copy the picture into paint and put them next to each other to see for yourself.
What's your favourite optical illusion?

That is freaking amazing!

You can prove it without cutting and pasting, just stare at the red dot for a couple of seconds and they will appear the same color.
